It's sad that this isn't the only story like this that I've heard about somewhat recently. Despite the fact that the American Dietetic Association's position that vegan diets are acceptable for humans at all stages of life, maybe a vegan diet is, at the very least,  something that needs to be carefully monitored and supplemented to avoid tragedies like this.
