I wonder if Trump bothered to get any legal advice for this appointment or if he just shot from the hip.

I'm sure Trump never bothered to get legal advice, and if it was given to him, he would ignore it anyway.  I'm glad there are legal reasons why this appointment should not be valid.  It's obvious that he was selected because of his outright opposition to the Mueller investigation.  Just as it is obvious that Sessions was fired because he recused himself from protecting Trump from it.  I hate to think what this whole time period is going to look like to future generations.
