Teenager Accused of Rape Deserves Leniency Because He’s From a ‘Good Family,’ Judge Says - The New York Times

The family court judge also said the victim should have been told that pressing charges would destroy the accused’s life.

Oh like the 12 year old girl that's been raped doesn't have her life destroyed. This is insane but happening more and more in the USA. Judges that make their own rules and simply change laws and rules temporary in the favor of other people. This is corruption of the justice system, which is a base for the democracy. Judges like this should be fired.

Serge023? The female victim was actually 16 years old. The 16-year-old creep who raped her videotaped the assault. However, there was another similar case in which a 16-year-old boy raped a 12-year-old girl. The judge in that matter also coddled him. Strangely enough, the criminal justice system doesn't seem to punish underage boys here in the United States of America like it should whenever they rape an adolescent girl. I've never been able to understand that school of thought among these judges. However, you're right. Judges who engage in this dereliction of duties need to be impeached from the bench.
