Jaguar has confirmed that the current XJ sedan will end production this summer, ten years after the X351-generation car first made its debut. But Jaguar also confirmed to C/D that the XJ nameplate will live on in a new model that will be announced in the near future. What's next for the iconic luxury sedan?
Set on Jaguar Land Rover's next-generation aluminum architecture that will ease electrification, the new XJ will be closely related to forthcoming Land Rover models, including a new road-biased Range Rover. We anticipate twin motors that will provide all-wheel drive, a battery pack with the juice to supply at least 300 miles of range, and—if Jaguar is serious about survival—DC fast charging capable of replenishing the battery at Tesla Supercharger speeds.
