Pat Shurmur is making the statement with his actions, not necessarily his words, but it's pretty evident what he is thinking right now. The head coach of the Giants believes Daniel Jones gives his team the best chance to pick up its first victory of the season Sunday afternoon against the Buccaneers in Tampa, Fla. Maybe Jones provides similar odds to that of the man he is replacing, a two-time Super Bowl MVP in Eli Manning after an 0-2 start, but it's also not outrageous to argue that Shurmur is doing what is best for the future as well as the present.
