Plot

The match between Aragaki and JD is full swing with both sides taking some serious heat from one another. But, in the ring, only one man can come out on top! Will Aragaki be able to fend off his past demons and come out on top? Or will JD manage to steal another win on his climb up to the top?

Episode Highlights

Intermittent Flashbacks: Throughout the episode, there are a few flashbacks to when Aragaki trained under Nanbu. The scenes usually highlight similarities between Nanbu’s training of Aragaki and his training of JD in the present.

Dramatic Camera Angles/Freeze Frames: The match between Aragaki and JD is especially intense, much more so than any of the previous fights. This time around, there were a lot of really cool close up shots of JD and Aragaki going blow for blow and a great deal more emphasis put on the especially effective hits. Visually this was a really intense fight.

Themes & Trivia

Sins of the Father: Aragaki holds a grudge against Nanbu for forgetting about him after the war, a sentiment that has carried over into his current fight with JD. He initially wants to defeat JD in order to hurt Nanbu for leaving him for dead all those years ago.

Injury Treatment: In between rounds, Nanbu gives JD pep talks and treats any injuries he may have sustained during the preceding round. The treatments range from wiping away blood and putting pressure on bruises to prevent swelling to putting vaseline on open wounds.

Forfeit: This is when one fighter is unable to complete a fight and essentially gives up. This can occur for a number of reasons, usually due to an injury that would other hinder a fighter’s ability to continue a match.

Comments

Is it me or was this match 10x more intense than any of the others before it? Maybe it was all that great character building we got in the last episode, but the match between Aragaki and JD just had a lot more weight to it, because we spent so much time getting to know Aragaki before he entered the ring. On top of that, the animators went all out with this week’s match. It was one of the most visually stunning fights to date with a lot ofclose-upss and wide sweeps. Even the animation seemed more fluid, you really feel like you’re getting up close and personal with the fighters as they duke it out.

Fighting for Tomorrow

This week’s episode offers up a fitting conclusion to the Aragaki arc, this was definitely a much more emotional fight, with both fighters putting it all on the line. The action was more intense and the payoff was definitely worth it!
