History of "Rapai Geleng" Dances
Rapai is one of the percussion instruments from Aceh.
Rapai (tambourine) is divided into several types of games, such as dance tug geleng one of them.
Rapai Geleng was developed by an anonymous Aceh Selatan.
The Rapai Geleng game also includes dance moves that symbolize the uniformity attitude in terms of cooperation, togetherness, and full cohesiveness in the community.

This terian expresses the dynamics of society in poetry (songs) sung, kustum and basic motion of dance elements of meuseukat.

The function of this dance is religious syari, instilling moral values to the community, and also explaining about how to live in social society.
Rapai geleng was first developed in 1965 on the South Coast Coast. At that time Rawa Geleng dance was brought in when filling the void of santri time that saturated after studying. Then, this dance is used as a means of propaganda because it can make the attraction of the audience very much.

This type of dance is meant for men. Usually who plays this dance there are 12 men who have been trained. The poem is socialization to the society about how to live in society, religion and solidarity are upheld.

The poem that is sung depends on the Shah. Until now the poems are many that are made new but still on the function of preaching.

my personal experience:
one good luck for me because I myself am a dance dance player, and during this time I actively teach dance rapai geleng for students of my students who are students with special needs of the extraordinary school which is located in the province of Aceh aceh eastern Indonesia.
below I will show you the video when I train the dance for them, my students who are deaf students, tuna grahita and tuna barrel.
at the beginning I was a little hesitant to teach this dance to them, because this dance needs a strong memory to be able to learn it while they are only students with special needs. but after going through the process and their sincerity to learn eventually they also can master dance tug geleng.
so little history and my experience about tidying up, and on another occasion I will continue again
Thank you for your attention.
