The League of Legends (LMHT) is a Multiplayer Online Battlefield (MOBA) video game played by Riot Games. Developed and released for the Microsoft Windows operating system [1] and Mac OS X, inspired by the mod of Defense of the Ancients [2] for the video game Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. It is a free game and is supported by micro-transactions. The game was first announced on October 7, 2008 and was released on October 27, 2009. [3] Since its release, the League of Legends has been very active, and became popular in later years. According to a 2012 Forbes article, the League of Legends is the most played computer game in North America and Europe for hours played. [4] By January 2014, there were 67 million players in the League of Legends each month, 27 million people a day, and more than 7.5 million at the same time in the highest moments. [5]
