Dear DLive... What The Actual F***

in dlive •  6 years ago

Hi Friends,

Anyone who has followed me for any period of time knows that I never really get involved in controversial issues. I just usually try to stay focused on creating content I love and promoting projects that I think benefit the Steem blockchain.

Here are my totally unfiltered thoughts and reactions to the Dlive announcement today.

Xo, Lea

Agreed. I'll be streaming elsewhere from now on. You've articulated this fantastically. @meno's comments in the original thread suggest that lino is involved with the dlive founders.

We'll find a new home to stream on! I'm looking at @vimm for a test tonight!

Thanks for speaking your mind @coruscate. Its great to hear your perspective on such a surprising and unexpected event today and I know that Steemians respect your thoughts and opinions on these material issues. I hope all involved hear this video and give some sort of response to make sense of what happened. Certainly major contributors like yourself have earned that respect

Greetings, beautiful coruscate

It was a shame that Dlive migrated from platform and out of steem. We lost a good place to put our videos. I have not yet read the text in full to know the motives of the Dlive, but that makes me sad.

Thanks for the post and good night !!!!

I just heard about this too, crazy eh, maybe it will be good in the long run

Thanks for pronouncing what many of us think and feel, Lea.

I'm pretty sure Steemit, Inc didn't know anything about their decision, since David commented their announcement with a Noooooo! and only after their big coming out the delegation was taken away.

That for me is evidence enough that the @dlive team really doesn't have any type of business ethics at all. It's surprising that they really believe they will be able to succeed launching a new busines after proving that they're not trustworthy at all.

This is gonna be on the blockchain forever, and everybody who will ever google DLive will run into a huge amount of complaints.

That should be enough for us to just lean back and relax.
Karma's gonna do its job better than ever :-)

Again, thanks for sharing your feelings, first impressions and thoughts.
I'm as shocked as you are no doubt about that.

I generally don't use DTube because it is slow and is full of shit content. I was recently talking about this with X who trashed both DTube and Dlive for being slow and the content quality. X is a reputable steemian. You will never see him making it public though. It is not just X. Many other high rep steemians talk trash about many steem DApps in private but they will never say it out public because that will have negative impact on their steem account.

This "everything is fine" and there is not reason to go away thing doesn't make sense. Steem Inc's sponsorship isn't legally binding. Their sponsorship is more like donation. And both Dlive and Dtube won't be able to achieve mainstream adoption if they stick to Steem. The problem is with Steem itself. The account creation system is a total mess. People need to stake in order to vote which is also another big problem.

I would agree this is total nonsense. I was just making the move to them from DTube, and now they have totally blown my work to shit. The point of being on this blockchain is your work does not get lost when you move from app to app. I could be on both Dlive and DTube and they both would build my power. Not any more.

Don’t be deheartened there will be a replacement soon. I hear Wimm is gathering strength off the back of this.

@vimm not wimm :P

They didn't do an ICO, they raised funds traditionally through venture capital firms. They had money all along, they just stole from steem, probably not for the money, but for building their userbase and community... Fully story on my blog: https://steemit.com/steem/@heimindanger/how-do-you-like-dlive-now

We are all the same. Yeah I bet this have been talked with STEEMIT INC previously for sure. It will be fun to see how all the users will do right :) let's see how it will go. I will probably still use them and come up with something else specially now that I have decided to finally starting uploading regularly there. I guess business is business and it is what it is :) the best we can do is to say thank you and wish the best Luck. No matter if we will go and join them again or not :)

I really enjoyed this one. My jaw actually dropped with a gasp when you cursed, and then you let it fly to keep me on the edge of my seat. I didn't know you had it in you! Well done and properly rewarded by the community.

I feel betrayed and I don't even use Dlive haha. Great overview, Lea. Your opinion always rocks

@vimm 4 the win now :)

it’s such a horrible way to treat a community that supported them since day one.

sucks so much. and like you said they were so supportive so this is a punch in the gut for real.

Dlive is really crappy and buggy ... will not be missed. It will disappear

Businesses succeed and fail, come and go, all the time. This doesn't shake me at all. I actually feel like this is a great opportunity for @dtube to step it up and start adding more and more features. Nope, I won't be following @dlive. Yup, I'm excited to see what @dtube does with all the video content now on their site and all the attention on them. Great video @coruscate!

Wow, crazy development. Honestly, without the delegation many people would not have been posting in hopes of getting the upvote from dlive. Yes, it is a nice platform but if they were going to lose the delegation soon, their future was likely in jeapordy on the steem blockchain. Just my thoughts!

I think the community feels used by DLive right now and rightfully so i think. There is a loyalty to Steem users that runs deep. I think we saw it at the last conference where these are people we feel connected to even though perhaps we only meet online. It's really too bad to see a move like this. Great video @coruscate.

I’m beyond confused. The communities helped build one another. I don’t understand this and people are giving so many reasons why this happened. Dlive helped build my company and my channel. I just don’t know what to think of all this

Someone just trying to get rich quickly... this what I see.

Couldn't agree with you more on this subject.
Dlive became successful thanks to steemians and to be so unappreciative and ungrateful really feels like a punch in a gut.

I will definitely not be following them on lino

Sad Times. :-( I used DLive since Jan. and was so amazed at the 100+ STEEM votes I got back then...of course it did npot stay the same and I have noticed changes within the last few months or so so I am not that surprised just sad. I love Steem and kinda feel like you do. By the way, great idea staying out of the drama I definitely do that as well. Keep it positive. :-) Have an amazing day! See you around Steem, lol! :-)

Keep on streaming with @vimm

My views are always a little controversial. I actually consider this a net positive. I think when the dust settles, most of the current users will move there. After the outrage dies down, people will realise they can just double upload video and stream on both platforms - kind of like what they do with YouTube now.

I haven’t used DLive in a while and I don’t like them very much if I’m being honest (I used to). However, if we can look past the “betrayal”, they are introducing some killer features like the perpetual earnings - which are just impossible to implement here due to Steem’s architecture.

My only doubt that they will succeed is this Lino thing. There is nothing out there like Steem. Not EOS and definitely not some “Lino”.

I missed the post and now it's hidden for me lol due to low ratings.

Is this going to mean that DTube is leaving too? Is DLive linked with DTube? I'm just very confused.

Hey Binky! Dtube and Dlive are totally separate - and if anything Dtube is more committed than ever. This will probably bring a lot of creators over to their platform that were using Dlive. For those who do live streams - there is another platform that is currently coming up called @vimm. It looks really promising!

Cool. So Vimm will be linked to Steemit and on the Steem blockchain, basically replacing DLive.

It's so weird that they're just leaving just like that. Makes me wonder if they had a better offer or thought this bear market was a bad thing. It's not like Steem has never been this low before, and they should know the potential it does have, if they remember the last bull run. So either they got a better offer, or something happened with someone somewhere and they decided to leave (gossip story lol), OR (conspiracy theory) they always intended to leave Steemit once they would be built up enough in order to be the big guy on a new platform and have more power and control there.

More information has come out since I made this video and it looks like it was their plan all long. Both @andrarchy and @meno have done some pretty insightful posts about it.

Thanks. I'll check them out.

If it was their plan, the deceit is disappointing. A bit of transparency would have been nice. Though they probably would not have been welcome on the platform, voicing thoughts of possibly moving on after a while might have opened communication and collaborations that might have changed their minds.

I guess, if they don't want us and aren't honest, we don't want them, type thing.

this is probably how Bitcoin Core felt about the Hardfork of @rogerkver

It is a free market, but Charles Wayn should use a nickname on steemit when Leno Points drop to 0 BTC. :D Lets see how their ICO goes.

thx for the Info Lea!

so true :P

Nothing like giving someone millions of steem to shit all over you way to go dlive. People should be pissed but its honestly what happens in a decentralized system.

Good Video. I am new to the steemit blockchain and I just began streaming on Dlive. My question is, where are all of the Dlivers going? Dtube has livestraming but it doesnt seem anywhere near as good as Dlive was. I would like to continue to be on the steemit blockchain. Curious if anyone has any suggestions for how to continue to stream on the steemit blockchain. Thanks for any info/advice Anyone can give me!

I don't know, but I don't feel like posting in any platform until they make their intentions clear towards the steem blockchain and the users.

When Dlive changed their logo to a ninja, I thought that was very strange but they topped that with this latest move. Good news for DTube, I guess.

Yea...this was weird.I thought it was a joke. But guess not.
I won't be following them to lino. Even though I'm not a huge livestreamer or even video producer.

Oh man - just yesterday i talked with a bar owner to implement dlive to stream music Jam sessions. Bad timing.

Dlive will love a cold and lonely existence far away from the Steem World... I am sure they will stay here telling people to go over there ... and there is no there there...

@coruscate the dlive founder @wa7 is part of the lino team. This was the plan from the beginning.

Feels like treason

Welcome to the wonderful world of... drum roll.... "controversy". We knew you could do it all along.

They also used all of us to berify our accounts by sending them all our information and they didn't even made that verification, I waited more than month, that say that they just wanted our data for some reason !

nice video
