Vlog 355: The other day I was asked why I'm still working so hard on my account.

Everyday I'm earning STEEM through blogging and I'm also buying STEEM with my own money.

The other day I was asked why I'm still working so hard on my account.

This was my answer here.

Right now I believe we are in a limbo period between the old system of rewarding content creators and the new system where a entrepreneurs will tokenise the web through SMT's using the Steem blockchain.

In this period it takes some belief to stick with Steem and with the price going down as well it's a tough test.

I don't really mind. I'm invested for years. (two years and a few months so far).

And I expect to be invested for plenty of years to come.

You always find the right ways to explain things on camera, @exyle.

I'm completely with you: it will be more and more difficult to earn Steem in the future. While this is good for early investors - the average new users will suffer from it.

Which in return will be a bottleneck for user growth and retention.

Now, you also said in the video that Steem & its ecosystem has advanced so much in the last year(s) - that we're not really sure for whom Steem actually is.

Is it for applications? For content creators?

I guess time will tell. Steem and the whole blockchain sphere is still very early and we need to show patience right now.

And thank you for mentioning my post. It was consciously written with a provocative statement.

The current system is great for content creators like you. @exyle, who is flourishing on Steem but might go under if huge YouTubers would be on Steem right now.

But on the other hand - already big creators coming to Steem aren't succeeding on Steem in the same scale they do on other platforms.

Now, this is, of course, neither good nor bad - but it depends what the goal for Steem should be.

With that said - I'm really happy that you're so consistent with your vlogs!

Well said @therealwolf. Steem is still in the beginning stages and it is exciting to see all the new developments each and every week.

We shall see what the future holds but in my eyes it will be bright and rewarding for those who stick in there and don’t lose hope 👍🏻

Amen to that!

Thanks for your comment, Ken!

Ever since I joined the platform 2 years ago, I always hear this word "steemit is still on it's early stage" and I keep hearing them until now. Hopefully those years are enough for the platform to grow. I have no idea of what I'm talking about. I don't have have the technical knowledge about the platform. There are so many things happen in the platform and so many things had done but I dont really have the vision if were climbing or were just keep on turning like a snake.

Thank you.

User retention and growth are things Steem inc is currently working on with HF20, Hive mind and SMT's. That's how I see it and that's why I think we are in a limbo mode currently. These 3 things will be hugely beneficial for content creators.

But it doesn't mean there aren't plenty of opportunities to find on the blockchain right now. I think Steem monsters is a great example of this.

  • Wow, Matt. You were here to earn 12c STEEM hand over fist. That must have been incredible, making hundreds of STEEM with each post.
  • We're down to $1.20? This is rubbish, I'm not wasting my time on this.

The problem is Matt, that I'm spellchecking... that's a lot of work. Because me being a Klingon and all, I had to learn the language first, and I started with Mandarin. I went for population density.

So, if I, a Klingonian overlord commander of 3 fleets don't moon every time I post. Pffff - then it's obvious, the system is broken.

It should tap tap tap tap -> post -> lambo
tap tap tap tap -> post -> another lambo

But... what you always say Matt.. is that people have to put in the work? WHAT??? Are you a heartless humanoid?

I say no... Yes.. no.

When you have 50 million followers it'll be tap, tap, post, lambo; but you won't get them by starting when they do.

hahahahahha - you know... i know people might call us crazy... but i believe the same thing you do... in the futah i might be buying food with upvotes!

Here.. lemme upvote the invoice... boop now, let me eat muh taco.

You'll be placing takeaway orders by upvoting one of the comments on your local fast food place's daily post.
That upvote will place the order and pay for it.
First time you go in to pick it up and give them your address, from then on it's one click.

Are you saying you get more Steem per post when the price is low?

You get more STEEM per dollar. So if you write a $5 post when STEEM is at $5, you only get one STEEM.
If you write a $5 post when STEEM is 50c, you get 10 STEEM, which is ten times better :)
Also when the price drops there are fewer other authors posting, so less competition for eyeballs and upvotes.

Cool calculations thanks!

Haha, yeah that hit the nail on the head :)

Very true dear, I have seen you from almost one year, you have been connected continuously with blogging and powering up your account.Your activities are now becoming not only your own, but also the great inspiration to others too. I am very sure one day steemit price will touch the moon with all it's glory, and make us to feel like super excited.Though,it's a very hard time to earn some remarkable rewards, but contineity of work is utmost importance for us.Thanks for your great works, have a great time with your friends in London dear.

For me, dear friend, everything has a motive and a reward, you just have to continue with what you are passionate about, I know that all this effort in the future will be your reward, you will be comfortable and very happy with your assured old age, you and Bianca will live moments of total comfort and I know that if you work so much in this that you like it, you will not abandon it because others believe that you work too much for no reason, you are very wise and intelligent, keep it up, because you are an inspiration to many of us who follow you day by day, and apart from that, that you are not selfish and always in one way or another you are supporting us. Thanks friend @exyle

I am working on purchasing my first batch of STEEM. I am not going crazy, but I am hoping to get a little bit to move me to the next level. It is exciting to see what is going to happen in the future for Steemit. Right now really is the best time to buy!

Waaaaaa! I'm nearly famous. 😂

Thank you for the positive affirmation @exyle. I shall be drinking to that this evening along side celebrating reaching 1000 SP.

I was going to write a blog post about it today but I'm so close to 60 reputation I thought I'd wait until I hit that too.

Now I might have to just go ahead and write it anyway. 😁

Have a fab evening in London.

I have actually asked myself this question aswell lately, but this place still feels to me like it has too much potential to just let that go. I am, however, taking a step back and spending a little less time on it right now. Enjoying the weather and my beautiful new home instead.

I'm also trying to spread my chances a little by spending more time on my designs and uploading them and my pictures to many places for sale. So far without any marketing though, those figures are far from competing with Steemit (I'm talking about €20,- a year ;-) ). I can combine the two though by writing about my efforts here and showing my best work here.

I like how you're describing this. Feels a little like a limbo period indeed. Though I don't know all the ins and outs (I don't follow all coming changes as closely), so it's good to sometime read a reassuring post like yours, still believing in the Steem blockchain!

Good morning! Glad to see you happy in London. I have to agree with the comments here. @taskmaster4450 and you both have such a calm and positive outlook on STEEM it's nice to follow both of you. I appreciate your straight forward blogs. Enjoy your vacation!

I don't really mind. I'm invested for years.

I agree! I hope SMT’s are coming soon. So far there has only been talk about it. Not that it would change my opinion on steemit platform if it didn’t happen. It’s just exciting, this new project, new opportunities, new addition to steemit platform. Anyway, I’m still waiting for Steem to get to $1.00. Than I’m pulling the trigger. My side cash is screaming and begging for it .

Mark @exyle keep reminding the people why they should keep investing in STEEM even when things seem so slow. The BIG Change is Soon to be here. Just be Patient and you will be Rewarded..................

Trying not to get lost in the FUD was a challenge in it self.

Very much agree with this. After only about 6 months in the crypto space I’ve realised its not enough for people just to be here early. They have to also believe in it enough to stay.

The $ value of an account means nothing to me. All that matters is what it can generate. That's were the real power is.

Sounds silly but I never thought of this - that makes so much sense!

I kind of like that it’s only the people who actually believe in the blockchain who stick around and do well. :)

The future has different importance for different people. @clio may not be as patient as yourself. Her desire to grow may be less. Neither right nor wrong... just different.

I have to agree with you on all counts. STEEM is changing. The blogging part will still be a part of the blockchain yet it will be paid in an SMT, whether put out by Steemit or someone else. I do see the amount of SP going to delegation as opposed to being used for upvotes of individuals. I am doing that myself to some degree.

People will need to adapt. I feel that STEEM will not be higher down the road, it will be a lot higher. We are talking ETH type jump at some point. We can easily see 100x increase from here with all that is coming out. The more I learn about STEEM, the more I like it.

Another straight-forward, upbeat post.

I think content creation will be just one of the ways to earn SMT's like you say. There will be many more use cases and reasons for users to want to earn tokens on the Steem blockchain. It does take adoptation indeed.

I have not been active too for quite sometime. Need to get back in the game. Look up to you guys when you make post everyday without fail. How do you find the motivation?

It's normal to have times of activity and passivity - but for me, having a project on Steem helps a lot.

You are the real wolf man..Different level :)

@exyle I look forward to seeing your updates each morning when I open up my phone. Thank you for taking your time / energy and investing it into this community. You are a visionary and you inspire us each day with your words and your actions.

I feel the same way that you do. I’m excited every day to make content and publish it here on Steem, usually DTube. For me, when I started, it took me a bit to gain some traction. The shift that occurred for me was attending a live event in Vegas where I met other Steemians live.

It was a fantastic feeling to be uplifted and encouraged face to face with others on the same path as you and I. In fact, I am speaking at the upcoming Steem event in Toronto this September.

Feel free to take a look here. Enjoy the rest of your day buddy ✌🏻

I’ve never been particularly entrepreneurial so once the SMT phase of the Steem blockchain is going strong, I may have to just have an income stream from delegating the SP that I’ve built up.

But if SMT’s really take off, that could end up being a rather nice passive income stream.

I've read the realwolf post as well and the comments, I guess it's up to everyone to decide what they are going to do. I love your morning posts, man, you're contagious. Keep it up

Steemit is you account where you are spending you important time of the life. You are doing realy well. You want to make your account as your life future. And i hope you get success that you want or desire.

What is important is growing number Of users and that is what we all need to work for

not all about the money reputation and being part of the revolution is enough for me, steem is the only social media site I use as it's following a non parasitic model.

Free service are not free servers and the people running them cost money. Steem is a smart crowd funded model

We soon see what happens... And yes steem soon go up... :) And lot gan get happy :)

Investing in the future of this platform and knowing better days are coming for those who ride it out. Still HODL and with my crazy days I try to get in and upvote those I can.

Great things to know and learn from you. Your passion and determination really inspire me :) Good luck !

Hi Exyle. It was a really dumb question. In two years time we know it will be much harder to earn Steem. If you have a larger account from the work you put in now it will make it a little easier.

Power Up
Buttercup

Good keep it

Do you think that when the limbo period ends and the SMTs arrive there will be place for the content creators or that concept will be obsolete? Sometimes I think what could I do in this new era but I have not come up with any revolutionary ideas yet, for now I'm just a dude with content.

Indeed it takes some belief.

Everything that is done with love and dedication, is not wasting time, everything has its reward.

this is the time to work actually the future looks great when more people will find it easy to get on this platform only and the more widespread adoption of crypto will lead to the positive result of today's hard work in the end

That nice thoughts from you. Your steategy is good and will really be helping ya in future. You get the reward based on the investment you make. Crypto and steem are all about it. Quality work and some investment. Iam following the same strategy.

Impressive... not sure I'd remain as steadfast as you. So kudos to you friend 💪

What would it take, if anything, to break your resolve and belief in Steem and divest your holding?

Cheers
😀

I agree with almost everything you said and with your vision to STEEM blockchain, except the fact that this price ($1) will be the last time we have to buy STEEM, in my opinion, $10 STEEM is still cheap and will eventually look as a good deal to buy at that price! :D

Let's enjoy this party the most that we can because all parties have an end.... eventually.

I like your videos. Very good insight. Inspiring words. I've just made a significant investment in SP and am looking forward to the movement.

Opening my steemit account after such a long time. Looks like everything is devastated. But spring will follow the autumn very soon. Nice to see ya active. Keep inspiring.

There are plenty of times that I lost hope but youre way of explaining things about steem eases me. You've drived hope for me even though that I am not investing money on steemit for one reason that I just could not. It's not that I don't want it, it's just that I am not fortunate enough to arrive with the investment. I greatly believe in steemit which drive me to invite a lots of people to come and join. Hopefully things will get better in the future and I hope I'm still alive during that time.

Hello @exyle. I like to read your posts, because of your thoughts on steem I decided to invest in this blockchain.
You are doing a great job!
What do you think about EOS and steemit 2.0?

Your answer was very clear. I enjoy steemit more then Facebook or other social media.
