This fantastic event, illuminated by many lanterns, is the biggest summer event for the town, coloring the summer night in Togo.
The theme of the event is: "Together Furusato Togo!" It’s filled with music and lots of fun activities! IT was held in August 2017. Let me share with you how we enjoyed the festival.
Introduction
Togo is a town located in the flatlands of Aichi District, Central Aichi Prefecture, Japan. As of 2015, the town had an estimated population of more than 42,000 and a population density of about 2400 persons per km². It has a total land area of 18.03 square kilometres (6.96 sq mi). It is accessible via National Route 153, a national highway of Japan connecting Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Shiojiri and Nagano in Japan. It has a total length of 213.4 km (132.6 mi). The village was established in 1878 when several small hamlets merged together. It was elevated to town status on April 1, 1970.
Let’s take a peek at the festival.
The event started early in the afternoon and the program began with the Wadaiko circle, opening declaration and Taiwan music drumming performances.
Though we arrived at already past five and every performer was busy preparing for the show, we also managed to snap a picture with the mascot. The person inside it must be very friendly.
Among the things I remember the most is the Bon Odori dance. Multiple performers fill the stage and passionately perform a cultural dance along with the drumbeat.
These drummers are amazing! They're perfectly sychronized though some are far away from the others.
Many people just can't help but dance with the beat!
When it's time for dinner, no one seems to go hungry with good food all around!
We enjoyed some barbeque and sausages.
Some stalls sell exceptionally delicious meals that you'd have to wait on the queue for half an hour before they can take your order!
One of the most exciting perks of the event is the free fish. You can catch as many as you can and take them home!
This is a nice activity to join in summer if you like an outdoor activity. The summer dance event "Mai my event 2017" was held on the same day. The Town celebrates its anniversary during the event, making it not only a fun event, but also significant for the town as its people commemorates its founding history.
Also, I really do love Ramen!🍲😁
