Hey all! I am thinking it may be time to start doing the weekly live show I had going awhile back, Voluntary Japan LIVE, once again.
The show was a blast, and whether I had a scheduled guest on, was just filming alone talking to chat participants, or held the "Voluntaryist Lobby" where anyone could join in on the video chat, I always felt good after filming a show every Tuesday night.
Some of my past guests:
- @canadian-coconut
- James Corbett of the Corbett Report (@corbettreport)
- Gabriel Scheare of Fort Galt (@piedpiper)
- Stephan Kinsella
- @nicksikorski
- @tecnosgirl
- @kaliju
and the list goes on. Some of my favorite guests were the ones that I would talk to minutes before the show on Facebook or Youtube as total strangers, and then end up chatting with for an hour (though, admittedly, these shows were a bit more taxing on the nerves to arrange and keep "on track") on that evening's VJ LIVE!
All this brings me to my next topic:

I don't want to use YouTube anymore. I want to use Dlive, BUT...
I have a few questions.
A few weeks ago I cruised over to DLive to "peep the scene," as the kids say these days, and found that when I attempted to sign in I was prompted to supply my active key or master key. I'm not comfortable with providing this information for obvious reasons, and as I am not a coder, I am not sure how to audit the authorizations requested by SteemConnect or DLive. Could anyone out there clarify how all this works a bit for me? I understand and feel comfortable with @dtube, because the information required for login is not so sensitive/important/confidential.
I may just make a new Steem account altogether for the show. Anywho, any help you guys in the community could provide would be greatly appreciated and I'd be much obliged.
All of that said, I can't wait to get back to the show, broadcasting LIVE once again, from Ancapistan.
Peace!

Graham Smith is a Voluntaryist activist, creator, and peaceful parent residing in Niigata City, Japan. Graham runs the "Voluntary Japan" online initiative with a presence here on Steem, as well as DTube and Twitter. (Hit me up so I can stop talking about myself in the third person!)
The Busy Team and Steemit Inc worked hand in hand to provide the community with SteemConnect which is a community project. It is also open source under MIT license. DLive would love to have you on board and would provide you with a platform where you can broadcast your show Live. Can't wait to see you join the DLive community. :)

Yeah and I honestly can't see an immediate need for dtube as @dlive allows you to upload pre-recorded videos and faster, too!
Plus, @kafkanarchy84, this may not be a big deal to many, but I love the fact that D.Live TAKES 0% out of your total payout, which cannot be said for dtube :D I just don't like how I had to find out from someone else and not dtube's team.
Anyways, excited for da show! I enjoyed it, it felt home. Looking forward to it!

I agree completely! Dlive is far superior.

Whaaaa? Is Dtube built so videos disappear after 3 weeks? Vids disappearing is a no go for me.

Yeah man, this is news to me. @sequentialvibe is this 100%? Because I still have my video on my dtube channel from a long time ago!

One thing I do like about Dtube though, is that you're not required to provide the keys to your whole account to use it! :)

I personally trust the steemconnect API implementation and knowing that it's all encrypted and only gives permission for posting and claiming rewards and nothing like powering down or transferring steem, makes me feel secure using it. But there's always a risk I suppose...

Huh. Dtube takes a cut, eh? Maybe I knew that. Well, I am going to give Dlive a try, maybe from another account made just for the show. It looks super cool, and I am definitely interested.
Thanks for the good words!

Great post! Steem Connect is great technology.
I like Dlive better than Dtube because the videos don't disappear after three weeks!

Yes, I understand that these information that DLIVE requires is very sensitive and well it makes one uncomfortable infact it was a results of this that I never got to use it, I do hope I won't
Maybe another account as you suggest

And it Will be nice to have you invite notable steemians to talk about their personal journey outside the steem world. Wishing you a successful show friend

I've used my active key numerous times there to delegate, etc.

Right. What I don't like is that the active key can be used to place orders on the internal market...
