Visit The Biggest Bookstore In The World

The place is called Powell's Bookstore and it's located in Portland. Books are the best teachers and humans love to refer to themselves as open books.

The best movies and documentaries are first born as scripts which are a type of books. The invention of writing gave birth to recorded history and the very first writing were drawings.

It seems logical to think that inventions of letters have its roots in those drawings. Letters are symbols representing sounds, just like drawings are representing ideas.

My most recent post touched on these ideas in more details. Here aresome more intriguing facts on this topic of research.

"The Paleolithic caves of France are famous for their prehistoric rock art. Along with the animal and human imagery, 26 symbols have appeared repeatedly. These symbols appear in other parts of the world as well, leading to the possibility that symbolic communication through geometric signs arose with early humans. The diagram below shows regions around the world where the these 26 symbols have been found. You can click on each geographic sign for more information." (source)

For The Past 8 Years (Written 2 Years Ago)

"I’ve been reading (using text-to-speech) through more than 95,000 pages of text or the equivalent of 74 bibles. (Disclaimer I’m not a Christian.) This is a rough estimate but it’s in the thousands of hours of listening. At some point I was reading /listening through more than 300 web articles a week."

"I’ve also listened to more than 4000 hours of informative video, audiobooks and standup comedy. For the last couple of years I’ve been trying to reunite all of this in the most useful and revolutionary data bank/educational tool ever created."

"This data bank contain more than 74,000 bookmarks and 2000 hours of video and audiobooks. The very best are rated in different categories. I’m pretty sure it will change the face of education if I ever get to publish it."

"This is one of the reasons I have been absent from posting on Steem in the last weeks. Hopefully, my Steem projects and education project will meet in the future. I’m working on it. In the meantime everything I’ve read and listened too will be of great help for the Steemit community." (source)

I write and read to teach and inspire.

Paradise for every book lover. I also like to read book.
But glad to see you there.

Enjoy !

Reading books is fun and a very fruitful habit. I wonder how many books are in there? It's almost look like a classy library and not just a bookstore.

@steemstem, am very much glad to have found this post about your reading and educational life.

it's an undeniable fact that readers are leaders, am very much vaccinated with this word of your which says:

I write and read to teach and inspire.

that, is one of the essence of reading because if you don't read to gain more knowledge, you can't teach others because out of the abundant of the heart is when the mouth speaks.

But it's a pity that many people are not reading anymore this days, that is why I created a reading club on discord called #ireadbookclub, you can get the link here

THANKS FOR SHARING BOSS

Letters are symbols that represent sounds, just like drawings represent ideas.

This is how we have been able to learn from the ideas of others, the world of letters is everywhere and has become indispensable in all areas, the daily reading of if it will make you grow, enriching our vocabulary has become a titanic task in these times where technology separates us from many books, steemit collaborates in our training, so it would be very interesting to see your proposal after so many years of learning, so I hope you can soon publish an advance at least, enjoy your walks and greetings to Karen.

You and Karen always go on the best adventures!! I didn’t realize the biggest library in the world was in Portland. I might have to visit it someday. Being surrounded by that many pieces of literature and works of art would be a really cool experience.

portland oregon?

you must be getting around. I'm interested in what all you're doing while listening to those books :) I'd love to listen to more podcasts and books, but most of my time is spent reading and writing... if I had some work that required less focus, I'd be listening to content all day!

The bookstore is really huge and beautiful. I used to love reading when i was younger, I'm now a lazy reader, lol.. I love watching you guys together, you are so much fun.

I miss when Powell's was more of a used bookstore. The range of titles these days is pretty narrow I feel. That lets smaller bookstores like Foucault's carve out a niche though, which works out for everyone.

Your pictures are awesome. I would like to take part in your photo contests. I love every picture of you. Everyone can take pictures but not all the good quality pictures can be collected. A good quality photo shoot. I'm your photo fen. Real and clear your photos. You got to sell the pictures.please back follow

Yep, Powel's. Bought a mushroom book there.

Book lover here checking in -- I wish I was there. I have been to one of the largest bookstores in Europe when I vacationed there some twenty years ago and I can still remember thte ambiene of teh place.

Keep up the good work; I will vote you for Witness!!

Bookstores like that are so amazing. Not a bookstore but this weekend was our yearly calgary reads book exchange - it's massive and a ton of fun. So many books!

You guys are so cute together :)
And yes I think books will always have some relevancy in our World. That Powell Books is pretty impressive.

Thanks for sharing @teamsteem

Hi @teamsteem,

As a witness, do you know why we can't see the view count on our posts anymore?

This is really disappointing from Steemit, as we have no idea how many people have viewed our posts. So in a way it is a bit demotivating. Plus, it makes no sense whatsoever. I know you are a super busy guy and get a ton of questions, but it would be much appreciated if you can share what you know about this and whether it will be reinstated in the future.

Merci beaucoup mon ami!

I don't know. I wish they would have kept it.

As a witness, don't you have any contacts to the Steemit programming team? Any way you witnesses can convey this (and other) messages from your supporters?

Merci encore mon ami!

P.S.: It would be really cool if there could be a platform whereby users can convey their concerns or suggestions to witnesses or Steemit development team. I [perhaps wrongly] thought that Steemit was conceived to be a community-driven platform, rather than one where just a handful of players dictate how things go.

There is no doubt that books has played an important role in our lives.
All the technologies are the results of books.
Books gave us alot that can never be forgotten

That would be the paradise of any good reader, wonderful library, you always tell your stories in such a witty way, laughter that is not heard is magical and happy the reader .. Very good post. I congratulate you.

I invite you to read my latest publication and if you think I would love your support in it. Thank you.

Ah man, I still can't believe how much you guys have managed to squeeze into the last few weeks .. awesome. On the subject of books, the store looks amazing .. for me it would be a black hole that I would find very difficult to escape! In fact I've just returned from Hay On Wye (link below) which is known as the town of books .. you guys would love it :D They also have a huge literary festival each year that attracts word renowned authors and speakers, and it's a stunningly beautiful area. Keep up the great posts, looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you next!

Wow. I admire your reading skills and experience. I hope one day I'll have such an awesome experience. Nice post @teamsteem

I love real books

Cool! I didn't know it was the biggest bookstore in the world. Visiting a bookstore or a library is definitely one of those moments in life I appreciate the most. The smell of a book is so comforting, I love it. Thanks for sharing your experience! Whenever I go to Portland, I'll be sure to check that bookstore out!

Completely agree with you. I enjoyed using text-to-speech on my smartphone. I read and hear the book at the same time using my earphone. That is Audio + Visual experiences in one go. Very cool.

Books have really helped to change my life and revolutionalize my thinking.
Growing up in a community where finding good books was like climbing Mount Everest wasn't really a profitable experience for me. And for this I habe resolved to build a local library in my community before the end of the year.
