It seems to me that a big part of our opioid crisis arose from attempts to address the drug crisis with big government. Big Government usually fails.

Because we depended on big government, we destroyed the local institutions and social constraints that would have helped us curb the drug problems in better ways.

Now we are in a horrible situation where big government is pushing pills and the radical left is pushing drug use and the people who traditionally would have been standing to protect their communities are cowed into a corner.

Big government never is a good answer and their teaming up with Big Pharma is definitely a disaster. I agree with you completely.

Big Education is trying to control kids through drugs. All of the big solutions we've devised through the years seem to be putting individuals down.

I think the only long term solution is for people to promote self awareness and self control.

Yes, I agree. Kids don't learn how to delay gratification and to wait for rewards.
