Can You Dig It?

Before we get into the details of the giveaway, I'd first like to say a few words about myself, and what I hope to accomplish on @steemit.

Although it has only been a few short weeks since I started using steemit, I have absolutely fallen in love with the platform. In a world where other social media sites seem to want to suffocate their content creators, steemit, and subsequently DLive, have been a much needed breath of fresh air. I have been overwhelmed with positivity from the community, and thus, I have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time.

I started my steemit account a few weeks ago after my good friend @uhatgaming pestered me over and over again to give it a go, and much like I have experienced since becoming an user, his plea to a potentially new-user fell on deaf ears. As a new comer to steemit, I immediately began to feel defeated, because I had been conditioned by other platforms (Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, etc.) to believe that my content wasn't worthy of an audience. I felt like I was just going to get lost in the wash, as had been the case with other platforms in the past. Then, after a few days of streaming to @dlive, and uploading a few videos to @dtube I was rewarded with a generous upvote from DLive.

I was completely taken aback by the upvote. It was the first time I had received a substantial payout for anything that I had created. Then after I ended my stream, I took a good look at what I had made, and thought to myself, "Why the hell did they upvote me?"

I had no overlay on my live stream, I was using my smartphone as a webcam, and I was using the microphone from my gaming headset. I mean you could hear me breathing for fuck's sake! And it wasn't even synced with my camera because of latency! I realized then that I had defaulted to a place of failure that I had become too familiar with, a place where I didn't think there was any point to putting in the effort, because I wouldn't succeed anyway.

When I got that upvote I decided that I needed to be better, that I needed to be worth the payout, so I became hungry for success. I wanted to try to create something bigger than myself, and I feel like I have made great strides in that respect. I added to my ensemble a quality webcam and microphone, which immediately boosted the quality of my stream. I experimented with a backdrop for a short period of time, but ended up scrapping it for better lighting and a more personalized angle of my bedroom. Personally, I've been working on checking my anxiety at the door, and trying to let myself be more free while streaming. I believe all of these things have pushed me to the next level, and I was honored as a DLive Star last week, which was an incredible experience for me, and I felt like I had earned it which made it all the more gratifying.

All that said, there is still so much to do, and I'm still in my infancy on DLive. I have seen myself and the platform grow so much over the past few weeks, but it's not enough. It's never enough. I want DLive to take off, and I want to ride that shiny spaceship into the stratosphere, but it comes down to you.

Did you know that there are about 50,000 daily users on steemit, and just last week there were about 15,000 unique DLive users? 15,000 users is a remarkable number for a platform that is so new, but I wonder about the other 35,000 daily users and how we might be able to get them over to DLive. Basically, the goal here is to boost my following, while getting more steemit users active in the DLive community.
