Thoughts on the manner in which tight-knit communities of individualists help us to come to terms with death, leave a meaningful legacy, and live on forever in the hearts, minds, and ideas of others. Why does the state hate genuine community? Because it is one of the highest recognitions of the power and inestimable value of the individual that there is. Real individuals, real families, and real communities, are, have been, and always will be, a very real threat to the violent nation state.

What the powers that be are doing by isolating each of us in one of many different ways is part of the classic divide and conquer strategy. You are onto something solid there - community, where we share ourselves fully with friends and family, and neighbors allows us to potentially inspire others and when we pass on, we live on in the hearts that we have made an impact on - and through this mechanic, we do indeed achieve an immortality that is better than immortality itself. Thanks for sharing and making an impact on me!

I just remembered that there is a Native American saying that the defense against anything that affects us is community. Expanding upon that, they believe that most of the world's current ills can be solved with community.
