Technological Revolutions in Progress

We live in an age where we are constantly seeing companies go down because of vulnerabilities in their software. But computers aren't the only things that can be hacked. Recent discoveries in science tell us that DNA has been deemed hackable.

So what else remains in the domain of hacking? Well, the Internet of Things is slowly enveloping our houses at an accelerating pace. Websites like Shodan.io show us that IOT devices are insecure at a massive scale. This leads to things happening in the real world because of a cyber attack. In fact, as things become more connected and ubiquitous the lines between the real world and the cyber world are bluring. Elon Musk has already been talking about building a neuro lace, which is a device that goes inside of humans brains to enhance them. I don't know about you, but I'm not eagerly awaiting having pop-up ads blaze across my vision at 2 o' clock in the morning.

There is more to worry about with technology from what futurist Ray Kurzweil has predicted. Because of moorse law continuing into the future, we can expect to see computer processing speeds increase dramatically. That's not even considering the fact that AI may boost the the rate of moores law by assisting in development of better central processing units. This could cause exponential growth in computing power, and what is known as a technological singularity. It has also been predicted that sense many jobs in the world are an information technology, machines will slowly erode away at what used to be considered a human domain.

From luddites to people who embrace technology and love it, there remains the question of how fast AI and new computing techniques will render people who have jobs jobless. Some people are speculating that it could happen within 20 or so years. If it happens, people have proposed a potential solution to the problem of an automated jobless future. They call it UBI and it stands for Universal Basic Income. People like Mark Zuckerberg have gotten behind the idea in recent news. UBI is a guaranteed income to everyone. And some countries have already started testing it out. But we'll have to see if all these things I've talked about actually turn out ok for mankind. Until then, brace yourselves for a bright and dark future brought about by technology.
