This is my Great Great Grandmother... I found her through FamilyTreeDNA

in dna •  8 years ago  (edited)

Her name is Sai Sai go no Kwe which means Woman of the Falling Snow.

She was born on Mackinaw Island in Michigan and married a French Trapper named Dela Morandierre. They owned a Hudson Bay company Trading Post on Georgian Bay and founded the village of Killarney Ontario.

She is Ojibwe and Shawnee and also related to Chief Tecumseh... and I found all this from a $99 DNA test I ordered from National Geographic and FamilyTreeDNA... this is on my mom's family tree which means I was able to get my Ojibwe/Metis status here in Canada -

The discoveries on my Dad's Family Tree DNA go back to Rome and Pope Paul V who built the Vatican or so I am told ...

Stay tuned .... more to come.

That is such a beautiful discovery! She is so beautiful. OMG she founded a village😀. What are we going to be known for later by our lineage?

I know ... so many mysteries to be discovered. Every day there is something new !

WOw. it's a beautiful story.

nice sharing

I was astounded by the things I learned from a cheek swab

u know old is gold

How did the DNA test lead you to this info? Super cool.

Have you read Diana Davidson's historical novel Pilgrimage? I suspect you'd enjoy it.

Found out my Maternal Haplogroup was X2a which belongs to Ojibwe in North America ... I was added to a data base and had a direct marker link with a gentleman from Manitoba who had the whole family tree and found a missing link on the tree that said Native woman on my tree

This is such a cool story. Would make a really interesting memoir piece if you were thinking of writing more about it.

Yes I am planning on writing a book also tracing the paternal line back to Pope Paul V and the Vatican and possibly into Spain

I will write snippets and post photos here on Steemit ....

That's great to hear--sounds like a worthwhile project.

I had a book published in 2013 with a pub in Victoria, Bc that traced my maternal line (just as far back as my great, great grandmother who was a midwife in Calabria Italy). The research/hunt for info became a part of the story itself.

Looking forward to seeing your project come together.

That is so cool ... my dad's family is traced back to Dipignano Calabria in 1800's .... maybe we are cousins. Do you have any Borghese in your Family Tree ?

This is how I started my whole search after watching an Episode of Who do you think you are where Brooke Shields learns that she is a Borghese - Roman Nobility - and "Borghese" is my family name .... so began my search

I haven't come across that surname before, but do you happen to know what villages your family lived in? Most of my relatives are from Maione and Atilia.

Near Cosenza ... Celara and Dipignano
