Thanks for following! Do you have any trainer tips to my dog barking at passer by pedestrisns and how to silence that, or random barks to outside apt noises
I might try to figure out something to do here dog training wise. Perhaps a QnA thread, livestream or we could take requests to demo these skills in a QnA thread and do them via video in a livestream or DTube vid.
I've been running online classes for 10 years now.
Walk with cookies. Throw cookies on ground when dog notices distraction.
Cookies on ground mean inefficient delivery which provides time spent sniffing.
Sniffing is a displacement behavior (calming signal) that makes the dog feel more at ease and makes dogs looking at your dog feel more at ease. "He's just over there sniffin'."
You can even do this WHILE he's barking. I've heard it called Cookies From the Sky.
All you have to be careful of is that there is not a consequent relationship between a discrete behavior and the cookie (a particular voicing of bark, or a bark, woof, BARK sequence).
While Is Noise and Interference – If Then is a Function
While barking, cookies hit the ground barking stops, no discrete behavior happening. Totally cool
If woof, bark lunge - then cookie, woof, bark lunge - then cookie, woof, bark lunge - then cookie – now you're in trouble for reinforcing unwanted behavior.
The world's oldest breed, the Saluki, originated in Egypt around 329 B.C.

There is a technique called BAT 1.0 - Behavior Adjustment Training. It is DROP DEAD simple and highly effective.
BAT 2.0 is far more complex, and somewhat more effective.
BAT 2.0 is very similar to our STARR Protocol which we combine with DOC which is our environmental management protocol.
Lastly, off the top of my head, there is this piece tying it all together: 3 Tips for Working with Distracted Dogs.
