Meet "Thorn."
Some time ago, we finally got our first dog as a family. Her name is Rosemary, and she's 75% Anatolian Shepherd and 25% Great Pyrenees. Some of our friends offered her to us, and we thought that we might as well, since a livestock guardian dog is a good thing to have on many homesteads. Now, we've got another dog.
WHY TWO DOGS?
I know that a picture is worth a thousand words, but I'll explain it to you anyway. One dog, all on its own, cannot make more dogs. Ultimately, some sort of "doggy marriage" must be worked out between a female and a male of the dog kind. When it is successful, it means puppies!
While we were visiting some friends, the @little-peppers were able to enjoy playing with some puppies once again. Moreover, it reminded us that we were hoping to eventually get a "husband" for Rosemary, so we could basically "print our own puppies." Not only will it be cute and fun, but it could also help offset the cost of keeping dogs, by periodically selling puppies.
Our neighbors @bluerthangreen & @allforthegood had picked up some sibling dogs a while back, a male and a female. Then, when we picked up our female, we bought them her brother, another male. The ones that they had picked up were just the opposite of the ones that we did, since they were 75% Great Pyrenees and 25% Anatolian Shepherd. At the moment, they were offering up their male to a new home, so we thought he'd be a good fit. Now, we have two dogs, Rosemary and Thorn. We are hoping to arrange a marriage before too long!
I'd trust a @peppers puppy to not be farmed and milled anyway! Good show and good luck w/the "arranged" marriage lol!!

We just lost our Great Pyrenes to old age. She was a rescue and turned out to be a wonderful family member. The Ana. and GP are both great herd dogs and are outstanding territory dogs. After awhile uninvited guests will quickly learn to make a wide berth. Have fun with her and take care,
Mitch

We have 2 purebred Great Pyrenees that we breed. We are about to hopefully have our third batch of puppies next month. We breed every 8-9 months. We waited until our female was over the age of 2 before breeding as GPs are large dogs and aren't fully grown until 2 years old. This was advised to us and we have felt it was good advice as our female has not had any issues with her pregnancies or her health. Puppies are so much fun and something the kids will enjoy. After the initial 2-3 days we put our older girls (9&12) in charge of puppies. They do a majority of the work with some guidance from us. When the puppies sell we give them each $5 for each puppy. It is a nice reward for their labor!
