Right after we have a day of rain the Tiger Cave Temple is always very quiet because the hordes of tourists do not come to it. This is probably my favorite time to be there because it is so peaceful and quiet here then. I don't mind the tourists being there and I am happy that they do come because it raises money for the temple but sometimes, I just prefer to be alone in the quiet with all of my dog friends.
When all the tourists are gone I get all the dogs' attention to myself so I guess I am being a little bit greedy here as well. Once again the recognized the sound of my truck's exhaust - or so I presume - and many of them came out to greet me as I pulled in.
We did discover a new pup that was not there before and I can only guess that it was dropped off in the night. Thankfully the pack has already accepted the little guy but I was still very careful when giving it snacks and food because that is the one thing that will make fights happen. We just make sure that everyone gets some and we feed all in attendance.
This little guy ended up getting a "check up" from me and thankfully he doesn't have any parasites. I will keep an eye on him for the next couple of weeks but I didn't yet treat him because for all I know he might just be visiting from a nearby area and isn't actually going to stick around.
His buddy was slightly more excited about getting some luncheon meat than he was. Perhaps it is a trust thing?
I tried tossing the meat to the dogs but not a single one of them was capable of catching it out of the air. It can be a bit frustrating for the dog if the bologna lands flat on the ground because it's a bit tricky for them to pick it up when it gets like that. They don't give up though!
Almost had it!
The crowd started to grow but everyone needed to calm down because I had more than enough for everyone!
Once all of the bologna was passed around we got into the real meals and of course, a little bit of being silly with my fur-covered-friends.
Now a little bit to note about this last picture: I do not advise that you do this with random dogs that you see on the street as this is a fantastic way of getting bit on the face. I know these dogs extremely well and they see me as the pack leader, so I can do this. It also isn't the most hygienic thing in the world to do but I couldn't resist and I think the photo turned out great. She's like "hey, that's my treat!"
Just another day of looking after the dogs at Tiger Cave Temple is complete. I'm happy to report that there are no new illnesses or parasite infestations and other than the new pup that we are not even sure lives here or not yet, there are no new additions. The project appears to be working and the population is now under control, which was our primary objective to begin with.
