Taiwan, First Asian Countries Prohibiting Consumption of Dogs and Cats

For the citizens of Taiwan, dogs and cats, including one dish delicious to eat. This dish is usually served, especially when going into winter. Some Taiwan residents believe, by eating dog meat can warm the body and bring in good luck. This tradition has become a strong suggestion for the people of Taiwan.

As in Indonesia, in the market of Tomohon, North Sulawesi, the same thing can be found there. Different types of animals sold in the market, ranging from bats, cats, mice and more. Tomohon market a tourist destination for lovers of culinary extremes.

Likewise in South Korea, activists against the consumption of dog meat to emerge. The Legislative Council, on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 officially approved the amendment of related laws banning consume, possess or sell the dog and cat meat is. In the amendments to the legislation, the Taiwan government would double the fines for anyone caught selling or consuming dog meat with a fine of $ 65,000, plus jail sentence for two years.
