Most of the time, the reasons for your dog's teeth chattering is temporary and have no long-term consequences for the dogs.

Body Temperature

In fact, all mammals shiver when they are cold. This is natural body mechanism bring warmth to the body by causing the muscles to twitch, so the friction and in turn, this can generate heat. the movement os muscles in the neck and jaw area cause teeth chattering.

Epelipsy and syndrome
If your dog is suffering from serious health conditions like epilepsy, the teeth chattering will be accompained by jaw clenching. Also, this will happen frequently and there will be a definite pattern to it. That said, Epilepsy is fairly rare among dogs.another cause of chattering of teeth is a syndrome, a condition in which the entire body tremors because of damage to the dog's neurons. This syndrome requires the intervention of the vet. Some breed such as Maltese and West Highland white terriers are genetically more predisposed to shaker syndrome than other breeds. So, if you have these breeds, watch out of syndromes. The entire body will shake along with the teeth, and when this happens to address the problem at earliest.

Always pay attention closely
Chattering dog teeth, although strange, is pretty common. However, with so many different causes it's important that you try and determine what might be causing the continuous clicking of teeth, particularly if it starts occurring out of the blue in everyday, ordinary situations.
Ultimately, understanding why your dog chatters their teeth can help them in the long run. If you think the cause could be something more serious, it doesn't hurt to book an appointment with your vet where they can rule out anything else that could be causing this loud and sometimes bothersome jaw chattering.
