The Lychee and Dog Meat Festival, commonly referred to as Yulin Dog Meat Festival, is an annual celebration held in Yulin, Guangxi, China, during the summer solstice in which festival goers eat dog meat and lychees. The festival began in 2009 and spans ten days during which it is estimated that 10,000–15,000 dogs are consumed. The festival, rightfully so has been criticized by animal welfare and animal rights supporters.

Last year the Chinese Gov't. said the festival was cancelled and again this year, as well, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Since it is a major economic boost to the local economy of 11 million, and it isn't a nationally sanctioned holiday, it is hard for the gov't. to cease the activities.  True, the amount of dogs that have been slaughtered has lessened since 2013, however,  every year 10-11 million canines and felines are stolen and abducted in China for consumption.

There are so many graphic videos and images, but I am not going for shock value, I am just looking to raise awareness.
