A companion, still shadows me everywhere, except at night he has the study to sleep in (comfy old chair and a mat on the floor).
Now to train him to walk on a lead and obey a few commands to enable me to take him to the park and beach, which I know he has never been in his little life.

That training part is the problem for me. I don't have the time neither do I have the money for a trainer. Trainers are highly expensive and hard to find here.

I treat dogs like children (old fashioned way), stern voice control, flick of a finger on the rump, show dissatisfaction, normally that is enough.
Never had need for dog trainers had medium and large dogs in the house for over 30 years. Took in a Great Dane at one year of age, he was an absolute hoot when he stopped my husband entering the home in the first few days, actually ended up being a big softy!

First of all Merry Christmas! That's a very nice post about dogs. I really love them they help me with coping with my stress. Being with them just makes you relax so much and it is also fun to play with them. They are really amusing to be with. Anyway, thanks you so much for sharing this!

Have to take them for a walk at least once a week makes you get the stress out of your life for sure. Daily walks three or four times a day gets you out of the house into the open air.

I also had a Staffie (long legged) called Max a long time ago Lady Joan. He was a supreme wall jumper of note. After my divorce Max was left with my ex where he grew fat and later died. Staffies are wonderful dogs and congrats with your adoption! Blessings!

I get to adopt street dogs and most don't have breeding, no surprise. But I do occasionally encounter dogs that have unique physical traits and personalities that come along. These animals have their own set of personalities that I'm fond of knowing and figuring out. It's good to hear there are people out there concerned for these animals. :D
