The Dollhouse of the Veteran Museum in Imatra

in dollhouse •  6 years ago  (edited)

I promised you dollhouse photos in my previous post. So like it or not, here they are.

One rule. One fact. One thing that is sure. If you do not take every camera gadgets with you that you have, you always end up missing those that you failed to take with you. Extension rings (tubes). "No. I do not need these. I leave these here, on the table. I do not have to take everything with me because this is a short trip."

It would have been impossible to get this close with my Canon without the extension rings, so these photos from the dollhouse details and it's furniture are taken with my Huawei phone. Only light source was daylight from the opposite window.

The dollhouse was almost as full of furniture and all kind of items as the museum itself. I would have loved to photograph well planned pictures, if I only would have had the extension rings with me. There weren't other museum visitors on the way either. So this would have been a perfect change for more than a 5 or 10 minute photography session. But as I said, the most important thingies were left home.

If I had a dollhouse that people would come to see and perhaps also photograph, I would definitely install working lights. Chandlers, table lamps, some general lighting and perhaps even enhance some beautiful furniture with light on the background. What better way to advertise than to let the customers do that for you. There are plenty of people out there who own a good camera, passion for beautiful objects, decent photographing skills and the will to publish everything in the internet.

I would spend hours and hours on figuring out the perfect lights for each parts of the house and for each item. I wonder if 100 led lights would be enough for a dollhouse this size? Five floors, perhaps 7 to 9 different rooms. Call me crazy, but designing a dollhouse lighting would be awesome. Dimmers and all. Automatically changing different light combinations depending on the time. Or the lights could change slowly every 5 to 10 minutes so that all the 5 floors would have their change to shine in 25 to 50 minutes. And if one furniture or item is added, everything would have to be planned again.

Real water running from the taps and to the bathtub. Wood burning on the fireplace. Rocking chair rocking. Spinning wheel spinning.

Tiny crows and storks landing on top of the dollhouse. Hanging from strings. Perhaps mice climbing up the outer walls.

A car parked in front of the dollhouse and the car radio playing songs from 1940's.

Tiny, real baked cakes on the tables... ...no. That's where I would draw the line. No baking. I might create a lifelike mist, thunderstorm on the background or a volcano beside the dollhouse, but no baking. That would be my nightmare. So no baking.

Goodness! I didn't even realize the first few pictures were of a dollhouse and not a full-sized room!

Ha! The dollhouse furniture and all the tiny little items are so detailed. That's why. :)

Wow, this is really amazing! Who would know that a dollhouse could look so realistic? And you're still not happy? 😅

Thanks. :) But I definitely have to go back there in the summer and take photos with my Canon and use the extension rings. Then you would see the difference. I really could do sooooooo much better. :)

I wouldn't add the wood burning fireplace into the mix of a doll house.
Natural elements like these sometimes cannot be controlled.

That being said, this is one heck of a doll house!

What's the build up size?? I saw the chandler made out off buttons, and I think the fireplace looks a little like ceramic pepper holder size?

Your guess of the size is as good as mine. Perhaps the whole dollhouse is about 1,2 m - 1,5 meters tall. I should have taken a better photo of the whole dollhouse, but maybe next time. :)
