As a newer user to Steemit, I like many other minnows have been plagued by the dreaded "bandwidth issue". You might think this is going to be a post complaining about it, or asking why it happens, or even explaining what causes it. That isn't the case though. If you do a quick search, you will find many other posts that do just that. Instead, my post is going to talk about why for me it is a good thing.
This is how my average day goes... I get to work around 6:30 AM and I sit down at my desk. I check my email, get my applications started that I am going to need for the day and start working. I may be resolving issues that have come up, or working on my department budget, or whatever pops up that day. In between those tasks I log in to Steemit and I start working on my daily routine. Post my pictures with a short blurb for the photo competition I participate in as well as post my comments to other peoples pictures. By this time I might have maybe a half hour of time left to start working on my main post before I know my bandwidth is going to hit the negative numbers.

I start pounding away at a frenetic pace on my IBM Model M keyboard (if you don't know what that is Google it, they are the best!) and work on getting my main post for the day ready to publish. I move in my pictures, get everything formatted the way I want, decide which tags to use, click "Post" and BOOM "bandwidth limit exceeded". This I posit is where the real magic begins though. Now that I have time to waste before I can actually submit my post, I go back and re-read it. I find things that aren't quite right, mistakes I might have missed the first time through, things I want to word a little differently. This system-wide throttling of Steemit has actually made me write better posts. I actually have proof too. I recently had the honor of having one of my posts highlighted by
@ethandsmith in his latest episode of The STEEM Engine Express. If you visit his profile you can see he posts some really great stuff and not to toot my own horn, but his Weekly episodes gather together a good glimpse of some of the interesting stuff on Steemit. I am humbled to be include with so many other great Steemians.
Next time you hit that bandwidth wall, use it as an opportunity to tweak and fine tune your post. Read it through once, twice, three times and make it the best it can be. In the end your writing is really representing you right? How do yo want the world of Steemit to see you?
This post was part of my first homework assignment for #dolphinschool
I like your attitude and the way you handled this (annoying after all) issue 😃
Never had a problem with bandwidth myself thou...

Great selection of Steemians to suggest. And not just because he selected one of mine posts recently either ;)
I liked your post, it was a creative way to get the message across and utilise a supposedly negative and turn it into a positive.

I have heard it gets better. It used to be just from 9 to 1 EST but the beginning of this week it was horrible.

Hey @bozz. Good luck with the Dolphin School thing. I had not heard of it until you posted about it, so I'll have to check it out.
It was my pleasure to include your posts in my podcasts, so I anticipate that your future blogs will be just as great!

That is very positive thinking, forwardly thinking on a problem most people don’t even realize they have! Thank you for the insight!

Great job on your first assignment. Ugh, the terrible bandwidth. Although I do like your look on it! It most definitely gives us time to proof read multiple times and tweak as needed.

Yes. I am trying to learn to embrace it until I have enough SP that it is no longer an issue. After that I will need to find another way to remind myself to re-read my posts...

Those are some very true words. I'll be on the look out for a future post about it so I can get some tips lol

Thanks for the tip... and revelation of the Bandwidth Wall. I'm really new to Steemit and didn't even know it existed.
Though, I haven't done any posting yet. That probably explains it,

Congratulations on finishing assignment 1. For the past one week I get a stop everytime because of the bandwidth wall, and my last post i wrote and edited it as i was waiting or the bandwidth to come back again, at times it can be a good wall.

@bozz, this is a great post. You've tackled a tricky subject and given it new light. I like your use of image wrapping, and your tag was very naturally placed. You didn't have to tell them what it's about just popped it in, also, the link at the bottom. Very subtle. You managed to do your thing, within the framework of #dolphinschool, nice! Now, for the critique. Beautifully written, nice pace, but huge blocks of text are a turnoff to modern readers. Try creating more white space. Not by eliminating words, but by double spacing between paragraphs, dividing them into shorter paragraphs. Also, headers, subheads, italics, maybe a quote from your chosen steemer would give it more visual interest and make it more scannable. All in all, an excellent post and you fulfilled the assignment perfectly.

Thanks, I realized after I posted it that I should have used some headers. Guess I need to listen to my own advice a little more on reading it through three times. Thanks for the feedback!

Don't feel bad. Seriously, the white space and text formatting was THE weak link, otherwise very, very solid, and trust me, there is no way I do everything I know to do in every piece of content I produce. Unless the others are very strong, I think this will be part of the first revenue split post. Nicely done.

I haven't even heard of this bandwidth issue until the other day when a young lady I know on here was complaining about it. One thing I noticed about her page was she was re-steeming what must have been every post she had read that week. So while re-steeming might be a good thing , it is something that folks might need to pay attention too, as it uses your own band width that could be more useful for your own work. Most new comers don't have enough followers to make a difference in helping the original poster anyway. If you think it is worth re-steeming a person might expand on that original post with their own take on what ever it is a just put a link in the post for people to go check out the original post.
Just my thought, glad that you used it as a learning experience and were able to improve your work from it.

You make some very good points. I agree with you, when you are first starting out, it is really easy to get carried away and not realize that every thing you do impacts your account in some form or another. Thanks for the comment!
