Week 4 (September 2018)
Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!
End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.
On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!
Domains Recently Developed
This week we're highlighting some popular .com alternatives that are often seen in tech and startups. I've found 2 .io domains and 1 .co domain that were recently purchased and developed by an end user. Enjoy!
Tutorial.io
The first domain I'd like to highlight is Tutorial.io which sold for $2,655 at Park.io on August 25th, 2018. The site that now lives at this domain is offering JavaScript tutorials and training videos. It's a fitting name for what this end user is doing, and offers opportunity to expand beyond just JavaScript. With a name like tutorial you could offer training in anything. Either way, this is a good use for the domain and .io domains are popularly used for tech and crypto related fields.
Permission.io
Next we have Permission.io. This domain sold for $5,000 at Park.io on August 27th, 2018. The end user describes their service as, "A decentralized, blockchain-backed permission marketing platform that pays you in ASK Token for your time and data." Their focus seems to be on privacy and whether or not a user has given permission to use their data. For that reason the domain name is very fitting and it's nice to see more projects popping up that are blockchain and crypto related.
Intellect.co
Finally, we have Intellect.co which sold for $1,000 dollars at GoDaddy on August 24th, 2018. The site now at this domain is offering tools and tests to assess team and employee strengths, weaknesses and personality types. They analyze data and show you how to better work together and play to one another's strengths.
It's a good domain name for this type of service. I like it and I think it's nice to see the .co extension move into more tech startups where .io has been dominating for the last few years. In my opinion .co domains are great. They're versatile, short and can stand up next to a .com or .org domain name especially when you have a great single keyword like this (intellect.co).
Anyway, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
