Week 36 (April 2019)
Welcome to Domains in the Wild. In this series I post images of domain names that I've spotted out and about in the real world. Then I write a bit about what I think of each one. It's easy to miss domain names, but they're all around us and play a key role in a companies branding, messaging and design. Spotting them and taking a photo is sort of a fun hunting game to play while you're out and it takes very little effort once you start looking for them. Once you start to play, you will start seeing domains everywhere without even trying.
If you catch any yourself, please share them with us all in the comments.
Without further delay, here are the domain names that I found in the wild recently...
The Domains
I hope everyone is enjoying the Spring and hopefully you've got nice weather! With the nice weather it's prime time to be outside spotting domains. Today I've got 3 .com domains all found wandering about in Seattle. If find one share it in the comments! I'd love to see what other people are finding in their day to day.
On another note, I'm considering changing things up a bit with Domains in the Wild. Rather than a weekly post, I'm thinking about making it a more frequent post but it would only highlight one domain per post. I think this would work great with the Partiko app. If you think this sounds like a good idea let me know. On the flip side, if you think I should stick with the weekly post let me hear that! Anyway, onto the domains!
Delivery.WFM.com
The first domain up is Delivery.WFM.com. To be fair the domain is simply, WFM.com. The domain is using what's called a sub-domain in front of it called, "Delivery" but the main domain is WFM.com. This domain belongs to Whole Foods Market, which belongs to Amazon, so I guess you could say the domain belongs to Amazon.
On a side note, this window framing really interrupts the message on this sign! Come on Whole Foods, you can do better than that, can't you?!
As far as the domain goes, it's great. You really can't go wrong with a 3 letter .com and the fact that it's an acronym for the full name fits perfectly. These 3 letter .coms are worth a ton. Excellent domain.
Wesco.com
Next up is Wesco.com. This domain belongs to the company of the same name. I'm not sure what they do, so here's a blip from their website :
WESCO is a Fortune 500 global leader of electrical, industrial, and communications MRO and OEM products, construction materials, and advanced supply chain management and logistics services.
This is another good domain. It's short and simple to pronounce. It's easy to remember and an exact match of the company's name. I like it.
PlantScapes.com
Finally, we have PlantScapes.com. This domain belongs to a company of the same name offering indoor plant care and landscape maintenance in the King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.
Looks like we're ending today with all good domains. I like this domain too. It's the longest of today's domains but it's still just 2 words and it's easy to say and it's memorable. Another good one!
Hmmmm... the images appear to be MIA. 🤔

Oops! Good catch! I usually add them at the end of writing the post and got distracted! Thanks for the comment @dfinney!
