Week 9 (October 2018)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

We're looking at 3 domains that sold last month (September) and are currently developed or at least in use as a redirect. Two .com domains and a bit of a surprise with a .ai domain... Enjoy!

The first domain is MeMed.com. It's a short (only 5 characters) .com that sold for $5,000 on September 12th, 2018 at Sedo. The domain is currently being used as a redirect to Me-Med.com which is a site for a company that specializes in medical diagnostics tools and systems.

When I first looked at this domain I thought it was going to be a meme site, but who would spend $5K on a meme site? A medical company makes more sense with the word, "med" in the domain.

Personally, I like this domain and I think it's a nice brand for the medical industry. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually the company decides to use the non hyphenated domain as their main domain and redirect the other one. Either way, this is a nice pickup for this company considering it's an exact match of their name without a hyphen.

Axiom.ai

Next we have Axiom.ai. This domain sold for $1,125 on September 13th, 2018 at Park.io. The site is offering some kind of software or tool to automate repetitive work tasks.

I like the name axiom but I'm not a fan of the .ai domain extension. Sometimes it makes sense to start with an alternative if you can't afford to acquire the .com however I would still recommend grabbing a .com for the company even if that means using 2 words. For example, AxiomAutomate.com is available...

Finally, we have a HUGE sale from last month. Gab.com sold for $220,000 dollars on September 12th, 2018 at Flippa. The site that is up at this domain appears to be a new social network site. According to the site Gab.com is,

A social network that champions free speech, individual liberty and the free flow of information online. All are welcome.

There's no doubt that this is an amazing domain name and brand for this kind of site. The money invested in this domain shows that this site has a good amount of startup money and is serious about trying to move into an extremely competitive space.

I love this domain name, and even at $220K I think they got a great deal. This is the kind of domain that could have sold for double that price. Great pickup and it will be interesting to see if Gab becomes a popular social network.
