In 2017 local singer Katie Noonan organised a fundraiser to show solidarity for victims of domestic violence, and to raise funds for the Allison Baden-Clay foundation.
It was to be a sing-along with some prominent Australian artists, culminating in a rousing rendition of "You're the Voice", the Australian classic sung by John Farnham. Community choirs were pulled together to sing a backing vocal. We were not privy to the information that the am himself, Whispering Jack would be there on the evening.
It was brilliant to see John live again, I have been a fan since I bought his LP Whispering Jack back in 1988 to play on our record player! And it was an emotional performance supporting women who had suffered at the hands of their partner in domestic violence situations.
Kate Ceberano performed "Brave". which was a fitting song for the evening. I had my son on my shoulder so he could see, so the camera work was short & a bit wobbly.
Then the penultimate performance by Jonh Farnham. I was enjoying the ambience, and had my son on my shoulders so I only took a few seconds of footage.
I'm glad I had the chance to be there and show my son & daughter that "we're all someone's daughter, we're all someone's son" and we should strive to be kind to each other.
