I don't hate Donald Trump.

His tweets, especially while President, were cringy and embarrassing, sure. He doesn't seem like he's a good person.

But Donald Trump is far too ridiculous for me to hate him. Like... despite the office he held and the fact that he's running for it again, it's just not possible for me to take him seriously enough to actually get angry at him. He's, like... still a poorly written yet memorable character in some kinda vaudeville in all my impressions.

Even when I should say "that's awful", instead my first reaction is "there he goes again, the rascal". Given that nothing ever seems to really change regardless of who wins what office, he still feels like comic relief. He's Vermin Supreme if Vermin could win elections in an electoral sense and wasn't a good person... a Bizzaro or Reverse Flash to the kind of mirror held up to America.

People that take Trump seriously, either as a dangerous threat to democracy and the next Hitler or his most cultist, populist supporters acting like he's a savior that could kill someone on fifth avenue, all seem like they're just not in on the joke. He's an expression of modern American democracy, as ugly as it is, and nothing more. He is how stupid we've become as a society... a living, breathing, poorly drawn boomer meme.

I'm still not voting for the man, but I've come to appreciate the absurdity of it all, all the same.
