The Elite Series missions are a prequel to the actual Doom 2016 plot where elite soldiers do Olivia's bidding and prepare the demonic invasion. This is great for Doom fans who did not get enough single player updates in Bethesda's season pack + story geeks get glimpses of what happened before Doom Guy woke up from his nap.
