When I was in college, I was part of a fraternity commonly abbreviated "41."

I went to college to LeTourneau University in Longview, TX. It is a christian Engineering and Flight School.
For the first two years there, I was able to be part of a fraternity called Dorm 41. Dorm 41 got its name from an old army barracks that was installed before the dormitories--barracks 41. 41ers have deep traditions and a culture of service. Some of those traditions are rituals (not all that secret) that I cannot mention here. Apart from being a great overall community, I got to meet many individuals who became friends.

Quick history: LeTourneau University was founded by R.G. LeTourneau. He was a businessman and inventor. He held many patents; some rumored he was the individual with the second largest amount of patents in the USA (right after Thomas Edison.) He was a great man of God and supported Billy Graham's ministry throughout his life. He built LeTourneau University on top of an old army hospital. There was no more need for the hospital after WW2 ended, and they reportedly sold it very cheap to him. He built an engineering school and was soon filled up. Dorm 41 was on of those original barracks.

R.G. LeTourneau made his fortune by designing and building these earth-moving machines which made a huge advantage during world war 1 and world war 2.

His company still builds very large machines like this:

I am very grateful for my time there, and I still use 41 as a lucky number.

This post is to honor God-serving men like R.G. LeTourneau and Billy Graham.

This post is to celebrate the fact that I am now at a REP of 41 and I know its still low, but I am happy that I am seeing continued progress here on Steemit.
