Downhill skiing. Now I get it!

Well, now I get it! Downhill skiing is awesome, it certainly has it's glamour and excitement. I can clearly see why people are doing a lot of it. The typical day in winter resort is downhill skiing, snowboarding, skiing or driving quads during the day and having sauna, dinner, chilling around and partying in the evenings. What not to like? It's just perfect!

So, here is a couple of pictures of the resort we were staying in:

As you can see, the resort was a very modern log house with all the comforts and a spectacular view on the slalom slopes. There were four bedrooms, three of them for two and one for four persons, a separated studio, two terraces with fireplaces, an open concept kitchen with a living room, jacuzzi, sauna and three bathrooms. Not bad huh?

So, downhill skiing was new to me and I was lucky that we hired two different instructors, one for the beginners (me!) and one for advanced downhill skiers. The instructor was very helpful and thanks to him, I could easily move on to the steeper hills. The hills were separated by colors, blue, red and black. We practiced on a kids hill first but right after the instruction, I hit the blue one and then a steeper blue. Well, I'm an adventurous person, so blue ones weren't enough for me so I moved on to the red ones. They were a bit tricky at first but after a couple of times and a few falls, I handled them well. I absolutely would love to say that I tried a black hill and nailed it but I can't, I didn't really even think about trying it. Black ones were just too steep and I know that with my little experience, it would have ended badly for me. I'm not being pussy, I had to think about my little son after all! ;)

After our sporty day, we had a good dinner, sauna, drinks, and jacuzzi. Have to tell you a funny story! One of my colleagues dared my other colleague to crawl in the snow for 25 meters naked. Look at his path:

Yep, it's not for everybody and I'm not even sure what he really proved us, is he brave or stupid? He got A LOT of scratches on him, some very deep ones too. Well, he certainly got his moment of glory and we got our entertainment. :D

I also have to tell you about my new nickname. I ran into a glass door and got a huge bump on my forehead. I wasn't drunk as this happened at the beginning of the evening. I can't get it how I didn't see the closed door! Somehow it was just so transparent and there was no reflection anywhere... So, my new nickname is golden unicorn now.

However, the trip was cool and I could see myself downhill skiing again one day! Here is one more photo from the club. We had Evelina singing for us there.
