What do you think about bid-bots?

Hi friends!

I think there are too many bid-bots on Steem platform. Some people like them but others hate them.
What is your opinion on this matter?

  • Bid-bots are necessary for post promotion.

  • Bid-bots are not necessary. In fact, they inspire users to take unfair means to get success.

  • Bid-bots should be allowed but there should be restrictions on their use.

  • Bid--bots should be banned as they discourage the genuine users and make ordinary post trending.

  • Bid-bots are necessary evil. It is not possible to grow your account unless you take services of bid-bots.

Your image is broken.

Pixabay requires you to Download Image and then host it from somewhere else (e.g. upload to dpoll, steemit, busy, etc. directly)

Arguable, one could say that if hotlinking violates pixabay's terms, then the image is not properly sourced (and therefore still 'stolen' even though it's from pixabay).

We've got tags, we've got communities, we've got curation trails and probably some other means for content to be discovered. If people consistently used them, including the bigger fish, the desire to use bidbots would be less, and they would eventually die out on their own.

In order to truly promote a post, it needs to have somewhere between $150-$250 STU behind it to show up in the top top 20-30 postings on the trending page. That means having quite a bit of STEEM/SBD to throw at different bidbots in order to achieve that amount. The average user, which, by sheer numbers, is either going to be a plankton or a minnow, won't have that amount of STEEM/SBD available. So the ones who do are larger accounts that apparently no one wants to read, since everyone seems to complain that they see the same old trash posts all the time.

I don't find the right answer. But I know what was there before the bots: circle voting. ("Circle jerking"). Friends, small comunities upvoting each other.

I think some fundamental change shopuld be made to make bots and self-voting, circle voting obsolate, futil.
