Poll: Do you understand what global warming is? Win a sbi share!

There are a lot of caveats in this very scientific term, but global warming represents not just a ecological problem, but a human disaster that might erradicate humanity sooner than you expect.

But I'm not here to explain the problem, only to ask if you know how the science behind it works, if it's interesting to you and whether you realize how it impacts you directly in your everyday life.

Well... Do you? Just for answering, you're running for a SBI share! But you're running for a second share if you add a personal comment.

Not sure I completely understand the science behind global warming. But I do think about.
I eat a minimium amount of meat and such.
I help to plant trees via @treeplanter so I think I am doing okay, I could so more ofcouse.

Did you know the city where I live used to have an average temperature of 10 degrees celsius lower than it is now? When I was a kid, "really hot days" peaked at 28. Now they peak at 40.

Did you know the oceans also warm up? This warmth generates energy, which not only changes sea climate forcing fish to adapt, migrate or die, but it also powers typhoons, so they occur more often and they get even stronger.

Did you know the light from the sun is full of radiation, which is why you shouldn't ever sunbathe around midday so you don't get cancer? Most of that radiation doesn't even get to our surface, because the planet's ozone layer filters a lot of it. But there's a growing hole on this layer.

Radiation doesn't only give cancer, it also creates energy... Energy is translated into, among other things, heat. It enables global warming. Please give me your opinion on these things.

I did actually know these things xD
Its been really hot in Denmark was well the past summers than normal.

The UN changed the name from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" about one year ago. I don't trust these people and so do not try to understand them.

However if it is important, isn't it acceptable to try and see if science backs it up? Just because you don't trust them, doesn't mean it can't be true.

Make sure you know who is paying for the "science" you believe in. Following the money will help you see the truth (or not.)

But "belief" is a religious thing. Science is just flat logic.

Don't you mean climate change?

The problem doesn't stop at climate change, but it does include it, yes.

Global warming is the problem facing modern society where more and more greenhouse gasses are produced influencing climate in regions where it was left intact for a long time.

Yes, but it's not just climate that's being influenced, that's just one of the many disasters involved.

Global warming has to do with the increase in temperature on earth. It's already affecting me because when I'm residing used to be very cold in nature but it's no longer the case. My worry is that governments are putting in little or no efforts to combat global warming.

Global Warming works like this:
First you place all your data collection points on top of heat absorbing concrete
Then you hide all your methodology and data from peer review
Then you use a series of email campaigns to slander your critics
Next you claim that "the heat disappeared into the ocean", but don't bother explaining the mechanics of that process
Then you change the name of your scam from global warming to climate change
Finally, you collect your grant checks from the same politicians that "justify" their tyrannical policy from your "research"

Most of humanity doesn't realize what is currently happening. It really is a state of emergency, collapse of insect populations, rising ocean levels, climate refugees, collapse of ocean life, slow elimination of the bottom of the food chain. We are in decline.

I would say the basics of it, nothing technical.
