Who should pay the bride price in this instance?

In my church, month of November has been set aside as family month where the family is being discussed thoroughly. Introduction was done today and we learnt about the beginning of the family with the creation of Adam and Eve.

Someone asked a question and I want to throw it to all of you. Culture is dynamic and everyone getting married wants to display their culture. I know that, in some cultures in India, the woman pays the pride price. In Ghanaian culture, the man pays the bride price.

Now here is the question. If a Ghanaian woman who believes men are to pay bride price is marrying an Indian who believes women pay bride price, who should pay the price.

Multiculturalism is great, but that does not mean everything deemed part of a "culture" is ok and should continue, even if they have done if for a long time, especially anything forced. Obviously not everyone is forced into the situation that you speak of and for those that want to be in the situation and have the option to leave it, then I have nothing against wanting a bride/groom price or dowry. Key is being able to opt out or leave.

No I did not tell it in that way. Most traditional Indian men love women who are fair and agree to marry free coloured women when offered a big dowry and then ill-treatment the women. This is what happens in India especially in villages and also some cities where thoughts are still backward. If they 2 marry as in your case, I am pretty sure the guy will marry her and then demand dowry. So I conclude this marriage is going to become a failure.

Some men are really good and don't see the colour the stone but see the material. If it is such people, I am totally fine. It basically depends on whom you ask and with reference to the average man.
