I am skeptical about any asset that can essentially quadruple value off its most recent lows in less than eight months, hit some high, and then plunge back down.

I guess that describes quite a few alt coins, doesn't it? Bitcoin, though, has life changing abilities, though, in either direction. I can't think of anything in the stock market or in any other investment category that can swing so much in so little time.

So, fear of missing out for me would be more like fear of missing the drop, because this isn't a rise in confidence. Unless I miss my mark, and history doesn't repeat itself, this is just another major pump and dump, and fiat wins again.
