I'm going to go with the consensus here, even though I believe the pros outweigh the cons. I think it's good to know what others are doing. And even if that information wasn't available in the wallet, it could be found out elsewhere.
It can be used as a policing mechanism, if need be, but it can also be used as a symbol of inspiration and aspiration. Seeing what others are doing to earn rewards or bring in investments to STEEM can be highly motivating and encouraging as much as it can discourage. in the end, perception is a factor, and we all will deal with it at some point.
