What do you do in terms of learning anything?

I work in HR Department and found two types of employees. One who try to master on the given tasks, other who only learn to do the tasks and don't accumulate deep knowledge on it.

I know in personal life, we also do that. It's true that this mostly depends on the weight of the tasks in our personal life, our interests towards the tasks and everything.

But I am curious to know, on an average what you usually do?

Thanks for your time.

It really depends for me. Is there any incentive for me to master it? Is it a skill I can take elsewhere if I chose to? Will my increased productivity increase my workload? If so, will I be compensated accordingly?

I've learned the hard way those things need to be taken into account. I've worked really hard to master things that only made it harder on myself at the time and are of no use to me now.

Yeah, I understand that it mostly depends on our interests. But human have a certain behavior on this issue.

He he he... Somewhat similar here... I only master on very few tasks which I feel very important.. otherwise just get knowledge to run the work.

Lol I only learn and do what's necessary. Actually, I am more a "Jack of all trade, master of None" 😆

Most of what I've done working for others didn't really require mastery of any particular tasks or knowledge, and it certainly didn't pay to do it. However, I've spent an equal amount of time owning my own business, and there, mastering something come over time and experience. I mean over ten years worth. Fewer and fewer workers stay at the same job, or even the same kind of job for ten years. Those who do, probably master it, while those who don't, go on accumulating knowledge enough to do their different jobs, so they know how to many jobs that are just as likely unrelated.

I understand. But my concern was a bit different. I think it's depends on human nature. Some people try to master on every thing like on daily life tasks to office work. And some other just do their job. At least that's what I found.
Thanks for your response.

I see. I was coming from it from the perspective of mastery is desirable but not necessarily possible without time, while I think you're saying there are people who will try to master every little thing, while others just want to do their jobs and live their lives.

I suppose it is what it is to us, and that's based on what we feel is important.

Thank you for the question. It's fun to walk through these types of exercises. :)

You got it very correct.
Thanks 😃
