How do you support local artists?

Riddle me this.

In the interest of honesty, this query comes from a place of blameless, understanding amiability, a genuine curiosity like a pup's first snow -- free of all implications or insinuations of fault or wrongdoing. I'd like to know what -- if anything -- the population of the STEEM space do to lend a hand to their starving thriving local artist. Your responses may illicit one in return, so that I can further mine for the truth behind my continued progress. All sincere thoughts will be honored justly -- in the meager amounts of my vote.

Attendance of art events - I very rarely do this.
Encouragement in any form i.e, verbal, written - I also very rarely do this. Recently I sent an e-mail to a book author to tell how much I love her fantasy books, and I asked about the sequel of her book series. It was worth it, because I received a nice and friendly response from her.
Purchase of works & pieces - I mostly do this. This mostly means books and book series. I not only purchase books from local authors, but from foreign authors as well.

I'd be interested in hearing about those reads. I appreciate your response. Have you purchased much else other than books? It did not initially occur to me that one could consider books works of art.

Books are definitely works of art, and book writers are artists.
I love fantasy books. The books in the above mentioned comment are Hungarian books, but I also have good English fantasy books (book series).
For example the Summer King Chronicles by Jess E. Owen. That series is currently consist of 5 books.
In case you understand Hungarian, I mention the author and the titles of the books in the above mentioned comment:
The author is Szakács Eszter. Or you would say Eszter Szakács, because you probably use the western name order.
We (Hungarians) are using the eastern name order. Family name first, then given name.
So, the first book is "A Szelek Tornya", and the second book is "Babilon". The third book of the series will probably come out/release in 2020.
Reading these books is awesome. The story and the world is very detailed in these books.
This also includes the previously mentioned the Summer King Chronicles book series.
These books are better than movies.
It is like transporting/teleporting yourself to another world.
The characters, the emotional relationship between the characters (and even between the characters and you as the reader).
I feel like I am flying with the griffins.
It feels as if I were with the characters (or as if I were one of them), and living the adventures with them. Or at least seeing their adventures as a third person. Or both.
I can easily imagine anything during reading these books.
Nowadays I rarely purchase other things than books, but yes, I purchased other things.
For example video games (CD/DVD/Digital), music CDs and audio books (CDs), and DVD movies.

Do you have plans to do so in the near future? Recently I've opened my eyes to collecting, as well as creating.

Maybe I ll need support soon.

How do you hear about these art events? I feel I haven't been to my fair share. Procrastination, laziness, and maybe my fickle moods keep me from attending at times.

Most of the time I find them online through event postings

I might have to see how to set up a donation initiative. I like the fact several chose the donation option.

Any thoughts on a positive art event experience? I'm trying to host one of my own in the coming days.

Here art exhibition used to have a entry fee. The amount is small, anyone can afford that.
Artist used to sell their items through exhibition.
I have seen different other activities going on around to attract more people like concerts, stage show and something like this.
Many food stall also take places to give some refreshments to the attendees.
I am involved with any event management so far. But this is what I observed here.
Have a great day.
