Do you think authors would really earn less if 50/50 Curation was adopted on #steem blockchain?

This dpoll is inspired by @Theycallmedan over his post on curation - Curation On Steem - Let's Talk About It. The emphasis of the discussion was on the need to make curation beautiful on steem while reducing the action of bidbots.

I captured some replies to the post:

I'm for trying this. I know it will get gamed, but everything does.
One benefit I would see is that real users would actually earn from reading and voting instead of just posting, which could reduce the noise and allow for easier discovery of content. In addition, I think it might improve engagement.
Authors assume they would earn less, but I am not sure it wouldn't have a counter-intuitive impact and increase both Author reward as well as motivate curation. Maybe it would be an easier sell at 40/60 Curation vs. Author. -@whatsup

I know I would buy a lot more SP and run more curation bots if curation rewards were higher -@Theycallmedan

I think this issue of curation rewards deserve some attention and indepth delibration as well as re-consideration so as to anhance the stay of curators who constitute the high investors on #steem while not losing authors who are the image makers of #steem.

What is then your take on this:

Would authors really earn less if 50/50 Curation was adopted on #steem blockchain?

But they can make it up by curating too..

I might quit blogging (but continue vlogging) and focus on manual curation and engaging through comments. Without curation trails, I am earning almost nothing for my blog posts.

Does the kind of post affect curation? as in blogs, vlogs, etc

Currently, I am ending almost nothing from my blog posts (aside trail votes). Thus with 50/50 there wouldn't be need to blog.

I am not sure, but I wish we had more engagement and who knows it might create more engagement.

Since I manually vote and read everything I vote on, I spend more time reading than writing and I don't think that activity is less valuable to the Steem Eco-System

You inspire me. THe true value of curation is in the time spent on it.

With our current bid-bots issue, I don't think that 50/50 split is a good idea.
Have we no bid-bots at the Steem ecosystem I believe this improvement could help to rewive curation

Are bidbots really helping the system?

I think they are killing the system.
It would be much better to have strong communities, a lot of manual curators and curation trails with delegated SP instead of bid-bots.

Technically (strictly on a technical level) the answer is "yes" to this question.
If the curation reward percentage would increase from 25% to 50%, then authors would technically earn 25% less, but if this percentage change would really encourage curatiors to be more active, and/or even encourage investors/curators to buy and use more Steem Power, then maybe everyone would earn more.
This is depending on the users.

Thanks for the vote and your time.
From your technical point of view, which is good for #steem? We also have to be futuristic
