Dpoll 44: Does self-voting benefits?

Self-voting

As I joined this platform it was a common thing to do and by some even advised just like upvoting ten times a day even if you gave zero.

I thought at a certain point self-voting came to an end but I seem to be wrong.
There are Steemians who do it and I like to know what you think about it. Do you self-vote?

I asked someone on Discord and he said since Steem is hardly anything worth they (this community) allows it.

Do you self-vote? Is self-voting an option for (some) redfish to receive/guarantee a payout or are there other benefits? Is there a downside?

You have 4 questions in there....and there are a lot of factors involved...like timing of the vote,or if any other big votes follow after your vote...
I don't know ...

Yes I am full of questions.
I think about advising to self-vote to make a pauout come true especially to small fish.
It might help small communities grow too.
If I vote I do it on a certain point of the day and about a week ago I decided to read/comment/vote those who invest in me first. I feel better this way. I am a bad curator anyway with my slow connection.

Thank you for your vote. 💕

Certain point of the day, could be a waste of a vote, especially if no one with a bigger vote votes after you...best time for a vote is at the 5 min. mark, after the post is made..
If the vote value is lower then 0.003 it's a waste too...
Being the only one that votes on a comment could be a waste,too..

@abbak7 If know about the 5 min voting mark but noticed even if I do it automatically the vote is done earlier. I checked it out several times.

Many vote at the 5 min... Means who is the first of all?

I do not care if I am the only one if I like the post, it's good or for an other reason. My 100% vote guarantees a payout by now so that is good for the author and what counts for me.

Thanks for explaining. Happy day !trdo 💕

I don't want downvotes from the downvote police.

@billybohner Younever been downvoted because of self voting? ❤️

If steem provides in this option doesn't it mean it is allowed?

You 'allowed' to do it, but some Steemians look down upon doing so.

@billybohner That is clear to me.
People who only post and never engage are something some look down on too.
As long as it's not against Steem's policy it is allowed.

@davedickeyyall Thank you. An answer that makes sense. Ever been downvoted because of it?❤️

No. knock on wood

@davedickeyyall 👍
It shouldn't be a reason for being downvoted. It is not against Steem's policy❤️

I used to but stopped and don't recommend it. Much better bang for the buck to vote for others - especially autovoting as they might return the favor.

@bxlphabet As I noticed people seldom return the favour. Those Inupvote I like to read first. Those who upvote me are different from those Inupvote so Inam changing that.
The favour should be returned especially if it is good content (no matter the subject).

Ever received downvotes for it? ❤️

I just get those 10% downvotes sometimes, but I do not care about them.

Most of my voting is autovoting for people I believe in. I vote at 4 minutes so I get good curation rewards. The rest is maybe 20% of my votes - also looking for the reward to have a possibility to be good.

My vote is 1 cent, so who cares at this point? I need to grow to a good vote and then maybe it will matter.

@bxlphabet Those 10 or more we all get and since it isn't daily and each post I ignore it too. It's not worth the stress.

What I autovoted was send in the first seconds so not at the 5 min I set it and that is something I do not understand.

As I understood 5 min is the best. That rule is changed?❤️

you get curation and rewards. this is a POS platform so I believe self voting is OK

@jeffjagoe Thank you for your vote. An interesting subject I didn't think about.

Ever been downvoted for it? Can you automatically self-vote?

Voted for

  • No, because...

I upvote others

@suntree Thank you for your vote. If you upvote others you can still selfvote or?

I think that's good too. But it would feel like for me, that I would spooning out of the soup pot and hungry eyes would look at me, haha.

@suntree The hungry eyes can do the same or spoin a bit harder. You cannot feed them all but better once you gained. ❤️

@frugalgamer That is a good reason too. 😀 Happy day and thanks for your vote. 💕

I rarely do it. Nevertheless it is supported by the platform, so I would not know why not to do it. Let people use the functions of the Steem blockchain. I am fine with them doing so.

Thank you for your vote. I am happy to hear the platform does support it.

The minimum payout is $0.02. Anything below that will not be paid out.
Besides, I think that self-upvoting (especially in the case of comments) is selfish.
I think that people should work together, and upvote each other.

@xplosive There are ways to upvote each other.
I think up voting a comment is hardly done since the latest HFs and I only do it in rare cases and if my uovote is high enough to guarantee a payout on it's own.

Thank you for your vote. ❤️

When busy,
Will only vote for friends,
IF My friend just didn't post,
Maybe would to vote for yourself.
If I are too busy to publish an article,
May not vote.

Thank you for your vote.
If I understand it well: important is to vote. ?💕

My vote is worth nothing

@fredkese What means worth nothing? Doesn't every 0.001 count? ❤️

It starts counting from 0.0028.

@fredkese A self-vote does not count?

It counts, but you need to have 0.0028 on a post to receive rewards

Ah okay now I understand what you mean. It means too self voting can give you the extra 0.001 you might need.

If you are below the threshold, then yes
