The Dragonchain protocol, originally developed by Disney starting in 2014 and made open source in 2016 could give Ethereum a run for its money.
The use of public and private blockchain within Dragonchain should give it greater security than Ethereum over the long haul while also providing trust to authenticate transactions to prevent fraud.
There are several interesting projects underway including transfer and provenance for high-end art as well as digital identification that would allow an individual to control what pieces of personal information are shared in any given situation. For example, your 21 year-old daughter may want to provide proof of age at an establishment that serves alcohol but avoid disclosing her home address to the bouncer.
Dragonchain has great potential and will be very interesting to follow. Congratulations George Sarhanis, Joe Roets and team!
Really interesting!
