My dad, brother, and I visited Bauman Park one afternoon a few days ago. A beautiful place less than a mile from home, the park has open fields, several hills, a lake with pathway leading round it, a baseball diamond, a tennis court, a playground for youngsters, a pavilion with a charcoal grill, and it is located right along the Kishwaukee River which has flooded twice this summer.
The three of us went there for the main purpose of collecting some "drift wood" left over from the floods for the family's fish tank displays. While Joe and Dad were working on that task, I spent the time taking photographs of geese and insects near a small creek. I was particularly fascinated with some dark reddish-orange dragonflies sunning themselves on the leaves of young trees. I think I was able to capture some truly amazing photographs.
