Let us admit it. We all have one. There, which lies sad and only in the drawer of costumes. Thirteen years old, the bikini that they gave with the July Cio was an irresistible temptation, because thirteen years old we don't think of how ugly, sad and above all impossible to wear a one-size costume that slips into a magazine for girls at one euro and ninety.
Yet the subconscious has prevented us from throwing it away and for all these years it has remained there, intonso, not yet contaminated by the terrible smell of chlorine that is no longer leaving the costumes. The time has finally come to bring it out and show off this hot summer, obviously with the necessary modifications. In this DIY tutorial a simple and original idea to resurrect like a phoenix an old mesto and monochromatic bikini and transform it into a very cool and original costume.
Needed:
An old bikini
An old T-shirt or cotton remnant
Scissors
Pins
Ruler or meter
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Studs
- Place your bikini on the table so that it is straight and measure the side that goes towards the centre of the boobies. Cut two rectangles of the same length from an old t-shirt or cotton remnant, at any height.
- Now make on the long side of one of the cotton rectangles of the cuts about half a centimetre apart. Do not cut to the bottom, but leave a couple of centimetres. Take the lower end of each section and pull it out: the fabric will curl to create adorable fringes. Continue along the entire length and repeat the operation on the other rectangle. Then bend on itself the side that you have not cut to form a hem.
- At this point, stop your band of fringes on the costume with pins, being careful that the side bent to the hem is hidden. Sew by machine or by hand following the seam of the costume.
- Et voilà, ready for the beach! I also added studs, which I recalled on the bottom to hide the point where the fringing strip ends.
