Expats. Episode 5. Bradley and the Hugger

The slow-motion of coffee sloths was interrupted by Bradley's energy who joined our three relaxed musketeers.
He seemed to be so excited that there was no need to ask what happened. He couldn't wait to share something.
So he started:

-Have you ever seen the film "Lars and the real girl"?

-Nope, no, why? - the reply from our trio.

-I got an idea that will be helpful to many lonely people, - then Bradley proudly continued,- a Hugger.

-Who, what, why?

-That would be a 3D printed girl for giving a free hug in times of stress. I read quite a few psychological articles on how
human contact is important to get out of depression.

  • I guess the keyword is "human",- added Adrian.

  • Stained-glass attitudes,- in a sharp riposte replied Bradley. We live in 21 century when real hugs are not so easy to get. It always involves relationships, hardships, expectations. When all I need is a hug and to know that my Hugger waiting for me after a long working day at home always ready to hug and support.

-Well, you are not even working,- laughed Nike.

-Doesn't matter. I still have stress. Can't you see how this will be really helpful for so many people? Actually, I already drew some sketches.

He showed his design sketches of future 3D model Hugger to friends.

  • Why she has so big eyes, - asked Nike.

  • Why she has so massive lips,- asked Adrian.

  • Purely for aesthetic reasons,- replied Bradley.

  • Why she has Pamela Anderson's boobs,- asked Peter.

  • Err..for cushioning., - hastily replied Bradley

He didn't expect his friends to be so skeptical and tried one more time to defend his idea.

-Have you heard about all these flashmobs like "free hugs". Or about a girl who sells her hugs. My idea just
makes it more simple. Anyone has a right to have their own hugger.

Nike added, - yea. But I have an even better idea. How about to make 3D printed Underdog guys and put them on corners
of rough places. So all agitated chaps could beat them for free to reduce their anger level not hurting anyone.

Bradley thought for a second in hesitation being put down to the Earth from his romantic Hugger idea serving humanity.

  • Well. It sounds reasonable, but for now, I will pursue with my prototype. I'm going to launch a crowdfunding campaign to gather some money. Can you guys help me with that?

Everyone nodded not very convincingly and merged in their devices before being further asked to be engaged in something they
didn't fully understand.

Only Adrian continued:

  • By the way, I recalled the film. In the end, the protagonist chooses the real girl.

  • Yea yea..- vaguely replied Bradley looking with admiration to his sketches of the Hugger.

Adrian wasn't sure if he did hear his remark but then just shrugged his shoulders thinking "everyone has the right of choice, control is old energy anyway".
