Matthias Grünewald (16th century) was an important German painter , draftsman and graphic artist of the Renaissance. His favorite subjects were religious scenes. Grünewald's preserved work is small in scope, only ten paintings , several consisting of many panels , and thirty-five drawings survived . But they belong to the most significant expressions of art in Europe.
