:D i know his backstory so this drawing is super dear to me <3 love how you draw this character, @scrawly, and the inked version is more gothic and has that wonderful stark contrast that your inking style bring to your piccars <3

also having just finished s2 of castlevania, i think this guy would be able to be a good friend to alucard :D

wonderful drawing, as always <3 love your prince of ravens * ___ *

I had fun inking him, I think the darkness suits him better than before so I'm glad that I decided to revisit this one =).

Thank you spider, your comments are always great and they cheer me up :D.

I like Halloween in general, but I really don't like it at night because they are horrible sometimes. That proves I never watch horror movies. Lol
But, I'm liking your post too much for this time because the fear of Dragon is much greater than a ghost in midnight. 😃

Hehehe thank you miixa. I hope the dragon won't roast you anytime soon ^_^.

Nice piece of art. But your work looks more like a princess than a prince.

Well then you'll be having a lot of problems misgendering people when you read shoujo manga :).

fuk all dat noise, yo

gender roles are archaic

the future is bold! and brave! and you are awesome \o/

Love the awesome contrasts!

I had a friend trying to get me to do NaNo many years ago. To this day I'm still both too chicken and too time strapped XD

Nano is such a grueling thing, so I totally understand your hesitation. You should try it at least once though :D. The worst thing that you can do at Nano is fail, and even if you don't write 50k words, you would get something out of it. Most people use their Nano as a first draft for their novel as well.

Thank you ^_^.

I would also love to participate in Nanowrimo, but I'm just busy at the moment and won't be able to write 50000 words. I don't even say 50000 words in a month :D

Great drawing as usually. And it doesn't matter if you post it on time or not. You post it at your own convenience and we are happy to see it :)

You don't say that much words in a month?!! Whoa!

I think there's a writing camp in July that is less intensive than Nanowrimo and also less known. People who signed up can define their own goal, but that flexibility actually make it hard for me to commit XD.

I don't know but 50000 sounds like a lot of words! I maybe type so many of them :D

Hehehe you said it best!

Thank you seanbon :).

@scrawly is very talented. This portrait reminds me of Berserk anime. One powerful enough to conquer the entire world.

Oh legend, you know Berserk?!!! That's awesome and thank you for telling me that you think of it when you looked at this picture ^_^.

My pleasure. Keep it up.

howdy sir scrawly! I love this piece! It think this is amazing. I really love the way you did the birds and the moon in that black section and the lady is just so classy looking!

Oh. I would say thanks but since you don't even read the title, then you actually don't pay attention to what I made.

He's a guy :).

howdy back sir scrawly! oh I thought it said PRINCESS of Ravens. yes I did indeed pay great attention to your artwork, I thought it was amazing but it still looks like a female to me!

..........ew this is bads

when an artist tells a person that the person has misgendered their creation, it is a bad form not to say "OH SORRY"

instead telling the artist that your interpretation is more important is pretty bad form.

and some artists and styles lend themselves into androgynous characters. this doesn't make ugly girls less 'woman' and it certainly doesn't make androgynous men less 'man'.

gender roles are antiquated concepts, and i for one am glad that it has less hold in the future world.

howdy there veryspider! well, I am not saying that the artist, sir scrawly has misgendered the character, not at all. I was just explaning that "I" misintrepreded the charater and thought it was a woman and that is why I misread the title.

I was just explaining myself because I was being accused of not paying attention to his artwork which is not true. I have great respect for his artwork and all the artists on steemit and I do indeed take alot of time to study their work, and in great admiration I might add.

I agree with you about the gender roles and I was not commenting on that. does this make sense? I am sorry for my misinterpretation but I certainly did NOT tell the artist that my interpretation is more important, I would never dream of doing such a thing.

I am in awe of all the artists on steemit.

Uh

your misinterpretation is built on assumptions. those assumptions are built on what you think a man should look like, or a woman (ie. gender roles)

i didnt say that scrawly misgendered the character

i directly say that AFTER scrawly said that it is a male, you didn't apologize. instead you PERSISTED to say that it LOOKS like a FEMALE to you

howdy again veryspider- I did not say that you said scawly misgendered the character.

I have since apologized, I was just saying that the character looked like a female to me that is true but that was just my impression, I mean no disrespect at all, in fact I have tremendous respect for all the artists on here.

I enjoy all the artwork on steemit, it's a joy to be able to see it and I have no problems with genders or anything like that. All I can do is to say I'm sorry for any offense I have caused, I only have love in my heart for all people.

If you still think I'm wrong about something then please tell me what that is because I walk in love and have nothing but respect for the artists here.

You keep saying you respect artists, but as artists.... I feel only disrespect coming from you throughout these exchanges.

Stating the character STILL looks like a FEMALE to you ........AFTER scrawly has said it was NOT, was very disrespectful.

Listen, your statement had ruined someone's day. If you can't understand that, then there is no use talking.

veryspider~ are we ok? because I'm trying to understand how artists see things and to improve myself.

i was asleep. i just woke up now. it is 8.30 AM sunday morning.

i donno if we are okay. i am mostly okay with everyone, until they intentionally or unintentionally hurt a friend of mine. and you did.

sir srawly, I just wanted to make sure you saw my explanation, I was not misgendering your work and I'm sorry that I misinterpreted it. But I take my steemit work and commenting very seriously and I never skim through or skip content and especially if it's artwork I take a long time to study it. I see that I'm not the only one who thought the figure was a male but my point is that I do indeed study all content and am a great admirer of the gifted artists on steemit, you all are amazing!

That other person also had made scrawly's day a little worse. But hey, scrawly's feelings aren't important, right?

It is more important to say a certain character doesn't meet society's image of a man than to sit down and read and respect the artist's vision.

of course I respect any artist's vision, I just didn't understand what that vision was in this case, no disrespect intended.

Yes, yes, of course you didn't mean disrespect. Of course, you didn't mean to ruin other people's days.

Of course people didn't mean to step on other people's toes and hurt them.

But these things happened.

How the people react afterwards differ, though.

Look, I understand you didn't mean to say hurtful things.

I can't say that things are okay now. But I can acknowledge that you probably didn't mean injury to others.

veryspider- I appreciate your honesty and I wish you and scrawly much continued success and I'm sure the next time we talk it will be under more pleasant circumstances.

I sure hope so.
